Echoes - Samuel R. Hazo

Resonant chimes and sonorous chorales lend a somber but inspiring hue to this work, written to memorialize a band director's passing while celebrating the legacy that all teachers leave for their students. As Hazo writes in the score's preface; "The more we give of ourselves, the more our lives resound."

Echoes from Russia

To create the musical material of this medley, the arranger drew upon the rich arsenal of Russian folk songs and dances. Familiar traditional tunes have been combined with less well-known, but certainly no less interesting manifestations of folk music. In this attractive arrangement the following melodies are featured: The Volga Boatmen Song, The Jolly Chap, The Red Sarafan, The Forest Glade, The Nightingale and the Gopak.

Echoes from the Battlefield - Darren W. Jenkins

Echoes from the Battlefield was written to mark the 100th anniversary of World War I. It presents four popular songs from that era. It opens with the well-known Over There, which is followed by Its a Long Way from Tipperary. The warm and moving Keep the Home Fires Burning then follows before closing with the jaunty and morale-boosting Pack Up Your Troubles in an Old Kit Bag.
