Holst composed this short, light-hearted but tuneful work in 1932, while on a visit to the USA, for Nathaniel Shilkret's concert jazz band. He was asked to use a folk tune but invented one of his own. The piece was not performed and remained in manuscript. This version for wind band was arranged by John Boyd with the approval of Imogen Holst. Duration: 5.00

China Doll
The year 1951 was very productive for Leroy Anderson. For a recording project with Decca records in June of that year he composed a number of his most popular pieces, many of which were played for the first time in these sessions, including this delightful composition, China Doll. It's a great choice for any time of year, but is also an ideal substitute to the perennial holiday favorite, Sleigh Ride. £67.50Antipasto - Satoshi Yagisawa
This piece was composed in 2022 as a commission work for the 50th regular concert of the Takamatsu First Senior High School Symphonic Wind Ensemble in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, and was performed for the first time in the world by the same group under the direction of Koji Ishikawa. The high school in question is a prestigious school that has produced many excellent musicians. When Satoshi Yagisawa was asked to compose a piece that could be played at the opening of every concert, he named it Antipasto, which means 'appetizer' in Italian cuisine. This humorous work, which likens a concert to a restaurant course meal, condenses the composer's typically flamboyant and dramatic music into a digestible whole of about three and a half minutes.

In Charge was commissioned by the Home Guard Band of Eksj to honour Thomas Samuelsson, whose efforts with the orchestra have been of great significance. He was a driving person within Swedish military music and furthermore project manager for Eksj International Tattoo. Thomas worked at Eksj Energy and the title of this work hints both to his occupation and his administrative leadership in the band. The first part of this concert march concentrates a lot on syncopation, while the second part is more robust with a traditional and lyrical trio part. In Charge was premiered by the Home Guard Band of Eksj on the 22th of December 2018, conducted by Maria Sandberg.

Forever Climbing was written as tribute to the loss of a high school band student that was tragically killed in a rock climbing accident.
