£33.95Sicilienne (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
Rob Wiffin heard this played by the young cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason as part of his short recital at the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in May 2018. He was immediately struck by the simple charm of the music and decided to arrange it for band. In doing so he thought it best to just touch it gently rather than over-arrange it. Apart from changes of colour and a little bit of counter-melody the tuneful elegance of the music appears just as in the original solo for violin or ?€cello. The music is attributed to the Austrian composer and musician Maria Theresia von Paradis (May 15, 1759 ?€" February 1, 1824) but, according to Grove Music, this is false and it was possibly composed by violinist Samuel Dushkin (1891-1976), based on Weber's Romanze from his Violin Sonata Op.10, No.1. Whoever it may have been composed by, it is a highly attractive piece.Duration: 2.5

£41.50Danny the Brave Heart (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - O'Reilly, John
This arrangement of two Irish folk songs is dedicated to the memory of Danny Pearl, the Wall Street journalist who was kidnapped and subsequently murdered by Islamic Militants in February 2002. The choice of Danny Boy is an obvious one. The arranger, John O'Reilly, always thinks of Danny when he hears this tune since Mr. O'Reilly's daughter was very close to Danny during their high school years. Danny was a violinist and he loved to play fiddle music. The Wearin' of the Green is in the style Danny enjoyed and the lyrics of the song relate to the struggle of the Irish people as they defied the British oppression.Duration: 2.30

£74.95Joyeuse Marche (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Brand, Geoffrey
In spite of displaying remarkable musical gifts Chabrier (1841-1894) was sent by his father to study law and in due course, having taken a law degree, went to work in his native French Ministry of the Interior, stay there for eighteen years. During the whole of this time he was developing his real interests in music and painting, including composing operettas and music for the piano. Following a holiday in Spain in 1883, Chabrier wrote a rhapsody for orchestra based on Spanish tunes he had heard. This became Espana; it achieved immediate acclaim and is still his most performed work. Joyeuse Marche (originally called Marche Francaise) was written in 1888. It exudes Chabrier's rhythmical exuberance, spontaneity and wit, bringing pleasure and joy to performers and listeners alike. Truly a march which lives up to its title.

£48.00Military Escort March - Harold Bennett
The most popular of Harold Bennett's (a.k.a Henry Fillmore) marches, Military Escort is one that even Sousa wished he had written. From the opening trumpet fanfare to the tuneful trio, this classic is one of the best! Larry Clark has arranged this, as he has many other Harold Bennett marches, to be better suited for today's bands. This is a proven winner in an arrangement that you know will work.

£85.00O Little Town of Bethlehem (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Brooks & Redner - Hannevik, John Philip
The text for this carol was written by the Episcopal priest Phillips Brooks in 1865, and it was inspired by his visit to Bethlehem three years earlier. He asked his organist in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Philadelphia, Lewis Redner, to write a tune to his poem. Lewis Redner himself later told that he found it hard to write a good tune for the text. But the night before the first performance "I was roused from sleep late in the night hearing an angel-strain whispering in my ear, and seizing a piece of music paper I jotted down the treble of the tune as we now have it, and on Sunday morning before going to church I filled in the harmony. Neither Mr. Brooks nor I ever thought the carol or the music to it would live beyond that Christmas of 1868." Duration: 2.20

£139.99Breeze in the Forest (Flute Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Yagisawa, Satoshi
Breeze in the Forest was commissioned for the concert to celebrate the 60th birthday of Professor Haruyuki Nakatsukasa of Osaka Kyoiku University. "Kanreki" is a special term used to celebrate reaching the age of 60 in Japan. The composer was inspired by some of Professor Nakatsukasa's admirable characteristics upon composing this work: he speaks softly and at the same level as his students; he is fashionable, stylish and refined. The band accompaniment is at a moderate level of difficulty, allowing the solo flautist to choose this work for many an occasion.Duration: 7.00
