Festiva Jubiloso' was commissioned by the Surugadai University Symphonic of the city of Saitama in Japan to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its annual concert. In the central part we can hear some solo's for tenor saxophone which however can also be played by another musical instrument (trombone or euphonium).

Anton Bruckner is chiefly famous because of his monumental symphonies, yet, before he got the mastery to realize those sound cathedrals he wrote numerous small musical miniatures. They only occupy a small place in the master's large catalogue but they are the first autonomous symphonic compositions of young Anton Bruckner. These Three Sketches and March in D minor were written in 1862, while he was studying composition with Otto Kitzler. In these early works one can already recognize his gift for creating rich sounds and his orchestration skill.

Tethys was the sister (and wife!) of the Oceanus, and the last of the Titaness, the goddess of the waters according to Greek mythology. This goddess was the inspiration for this work for symphonic band, which is derived from a three note melodic fragment, heard in the opening 2 bars.

£189.50The Island of Light - José Alberto Pina
The symphonic poem 'The Island of the Light' illustrates legends and places of the island of Minorca. In ' Cova d'enXoroi ' the listener can hear the legend of a Moor nicknamed Xoroi, who after a pirate attack, was left behind without being able to embark and remained hidden for a long time in secret without anybody knowing. Each night Xoroi stole what he needed to survive and during the day he stayed hiding in the cave. 'On the clouds ', the composer lets go, showing us his vision of the island from the sky, a movement that is full of strong emotional content. £110.40Fragments - Alfred R. R. Stevenson
In 2012, Stevenson was commissioned by the wind music association from Krnten to compose a symphonic work based on the work of Austrian composer Rudolf Kummerer, to mark the 90th anniversary of the Stadskapel Feldkirchen. Stevenson took a theme from Kummerer and divided it into fragments and then mixed it with fragments of his own. At the centre is the famous march Treu dem Krntnerland, which runs through the entire work.

It is a symphonic poem based on four mythical scenes from the famous Greek hero Theseus. This work begins in Athens, where Theseus is invited to a feast at which it was officially acknowledged that he is the son and successor of King Aegean. In Trip to Crete the composer describes the ship expedition made by our hero. Next in Theseus and the Minotaur the music chronicles the struggle between them. Finally in the last movement Back to Athens a beautiful melody of strong emotional content recounts the victory of our Greek hero.
