All Creatures of Our God and King is an English Christian Easter hymn by William Henry Draper, based on a poem by St. Francis of Assisi. It was first published in a hymn book in 1919. The words of the hymn were initially written by St. Francis of Assisi in 1225 in the Canticle of the Sun poem, which was based on Psalm 148. The words were translated into English by William Draper, who at the time was rector of a Church of England parish church at Adel near Leeds. Draper paraphrased the words of the Canticle and set them to music. It is not known when Draper first wrote the hymn but it was between 1899 and 1919. The hymn is currently used in 179 different hymn books. The words written by St Francis are some of the oldest used in hymns after Father We Praise Thee, written in 580 AD. Like Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones, Draper's text is usually set to the tune of Lasst uns erfreuen, a German Easter hymn published by Friedrich Spee in 1623 in his book Auserlesene Catholische Geistliche Kirchengesng. This tune became widespread in English hymn books starting with a 1906 arrangement by Ralph Vaughan Williams. John Rutter also wrote a piece of music for the hymn. Despite the hymn being initially written by Draper for Whitsun (the Anglican and English designation for Pentecost), it is mostly used in the ealier weeks of the Easter season. This setting by John Rutter begins with a rousing fanfare for trumpets and trombone, which segues in to the first verse of the hymn. There are seven verses included, but the director has the option of deleting verses as desired.

The composition ".The Fever Tree". in 2008 was commissioned by the Music Association of Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord as a gift to all its members on the occasion of the formation of a national music organization and the elimination of the music union for Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord. The fever tree is a controversial legend about St. Willibrord (658-739). The daughter of a pagan chieftain of Hoemannen that made the area around Heumen unsafe, was seriously ill. They feared for her life. The chief of the gang turned to predatory Willibrord, who same time in this region led mission. Willibrord commanded the man to repent and a headband of the girl to a certain special tree to hang. The desperate captain obeyed, and his daughter was a miraculous heal. Then came the anger of the Hoemannen against their leader, who in their eyes had committed treason by the group to convert. They abused themselves to him and killed him brutally. The daughter remained behind in great sorrow, comforted by Willibrord. The Saints and the Royal was composed on behalf of Royal brass band St. Willibrord Heeswijk on the occasion of its 200th anniversary in 2023.When the marching band was founded in 1823, it was given the name "Harmonie Sint Cecilia," referring to Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music. Around 1904, the name was changed to 'Kerkelijke fanfare Willibrord', strongly emphasizing the connection with the church in Heeswijk, of which Saint Willibrord is the patron saint. In 1973, at its 150th anniversary, the band received the predicate 'royal'. From that time on one speaks of the Royal brass band Saint Willibrord.The composition musically depicts both Saints Saint Cecilia and Saint Willibrord and the jubilee royal brass band. Although one of the oldest musical societies in the Netherlands, this fanfare is alive and kicking and will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2023. The composition therefore opens festively and energetically. The alto saxophone plays a recitative, the Gregorian "Cantantibus organis Caecilia virgo in corde suo soli domino decantabat" from the vespers of the feast day of Saint Caecilia, the patron saint of music. This is taken over by the full wood and soft brass group. After a brief, playful interlude, this chant is played by the full orchestra, like an organ, larded with circumambulations.St. Willibord was born in England but made the crossing to the Netherlands in 690 to preach the gospel as a missionary. This was far from harmless and he faced frequent uprisings. After his death he was buried in Echternach in Luxembourg. In this place he is commemorated to this day with the annual "Spring Procession" or "Dance Procession". This procession of Echternach went as follows until 1947: 3 steps forward, 2 steps backward. Hence we hear this procession back in a 5/8 measure: 3 + 2.After this procession, the Gregorian vesper of Sint Caecilia sounds one more time, leading the composition to a reprise of the opening: The jubilee Royal Fanfare Sint Willibord Heeswijk.

Adding to the minuscule number of Klezmer pieces for concert band, Nonantum Bulgar is the 20th piece published in the BandQuest series. The title, Nonantum Bulgar, refers to Nonantum, a district in Newton which is home to the city's oldest synagogue (on the National Register of Historic Places), and bulgar (pronounced 'bull-ghar'), a type of Klezmer dance. When writing the piece, the composer imagined the dedication of the Adams St. Shul, which took place over one hundred years ago and featured a prominent Boston cantor and choir and a klezmer orchestra leading a Grand March down Adams St. This upbeat work is fun to play, features a trumpet solo, and gives every instrument the opportunity to play the melody. Jacob de Haan was commissioned to compose this concert piece by the "St. Peters Wind Symphony" from Brisbane, Australia. "Ross Roy" is the monumental late 19th century villa where St. Peters Lutheran College was founded in 1945. The villa has always remained the school symbol. In this composition, Jacob de Haan sees the "Ross Roy" as a metaphor for the years spent at school (a monument in time), where one's personality is formed. So, the opening theme the artist calls the Ross Roy theme initially has monumental characteristics.The rhythmic motion, which strides along in the lower register and percussion at the beginning of the next section is typical of "Tempo di Marcia". Thismovement, accompanied by repetitions of sound, is a metaphor for the structure and discipline in school. This is the introduction to a march theme, symbolic of "passing through" the classes up to the final examinations.Then, the Ross Roy theme is dealt with again, now in a playful, humorous variation. As if the composer is saying there should also be time for a smile in school. The same theme can be heard in major key and a slower tempo in the following section, expressing pride and self-confidence. This is also the introduction to the expressive middle section that represents love, friendship and understanding.We then return to the march theme in a slightly altered construction. The oriental sounds, constituting the modulation to the final theme, are symbols of the diversity of cultures in the school. The characteristic final theme first sounds solemn, but turns into a festive apotheosis. It is no coincidence that the final cadence is reminiscent of the close to a traditional overture, for the school years can be considered the "overture" to the rest of one's life. The premiere of "Ross Roy" was conducted by Jacob de Haan in Brisbane, on August 22, 1997.
