A 25 minute work exploring musical fusion on multiple levels through the contrast of symphonic winds to a jazz trio (piano, bass, drums). Both groups are independent at times followed by a merge into a single unique musical force. The alto saxophone soloist stands as the uniting musical element between the two groups. The omnipresent and uniting musical force is the tango and, in particular, the works of Astor Piazzolla. Luis Serrano Alarcn has transformed the rhythms, ensemble settings and stylistic idioms into a powerful artisticstatement that communicates to all. A highly effective work for mature ensembles.

This miniature tone poem for concert band is a sequel of Benjamin Yeo's earlier work Flight. Voyage to the End of the Earth depicts a voyage by ship across the sea. The music expresses the calm of the sea before the ship sets sail towards the horizon. The ringing of the ship's bell and the blowing of the ship's horn signal the start of the journey. Now we hear the lyrical song of the sea, with lovely views of the ocean accompanied by whale song and seagull calls. Let yourself succumb to Mother Nature's beauty through this music! £194.99Euphonium Concerto II - Philip Sparke
The original concept for this work was a suite of short movements, each with its own character, but by the time the first movement was complete it was clear that a conventional three-movement format was going to work out better. The opening movement contains much syncopation and is almost rag-like in style. The slower second movement explores the unsurpassable ability of the euphonium to play lyrically, with a theme that is later taken up by the band whilst the soloist weaves a filigree descant. This leads straight into the third movement, which is almost bebop in style and shows off the jazzier capabilities of the euphonium. The concerto was composed for the virtuoso soloist,Steven Mead. A version for euphonium and piano is also available.
