£104.50Wolverine March - John Philip Sousa
In 1881, after being named conductor of the United States Marine Band, Sousa composed six new marches to add to the bands repertoire. One of them, Wolverine March, was "respectfully dedicated to His Excellency Hon. David H. Jerome, Governor of Michigan, and Staff." Lively, bright, and stylish, its tuneful quality makes it a natural march addition to concert band programs. As an additional note, Sousa wrote another march in 1926 which he called The Pride of the Wolverines; and while the titles are similar, they are distinctly separate marches and should not be confused with each other.

Mountain March - Wim Laseroms
A fanfare introduces This festive march is introduced by a lively fanfare which leads into the first, playful, melodic line which features a regular dynamic alternation and a light syncopated rhythm. After the traditional bass solo, the first theme returns. The initial theme, performed by piano and cantabile trio, later sounds in a jubilant forte with various figurations in the higher woodwinds. The fine work Mountain March is suitable as a street march, but will also gain much appreciation on the concert platform.

The MGB March was commissioned in 2004 by the Swiss railway corporation "Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn" and first performed by the Belalp Concert Band on the occasion of a march music festival. When the Second World War began, the British March King Kenneth J. Alford (pseudonym for Major F. J. Ricketts, R.M.) was increasingly in bad health and had composed relatively little music recently. As Hitler's armies marched victoriously across Europe, Britain was soon alone facing the Nazi peril. Alford's great contribution to the war effort was the composition of two of his great masterpieces, ARMY OF THE NILE, celebrating the first Allied victories over the Germans in North Africa and EAGLE SQUADRON. The latter of these marches celebrates American airmen who travelled to England during the early years of the war (before the entry of the United States into the conflict) to volunteer for service with the Royal Air Force, serving with great distinction during the Battle of Britain. Alford skillfully weaves a number of well-known tunes into the fabric of the music, including the Royal Air Force March and The Star-Spangled Banner, while also including a reference to the Siegfried motive from Wagner's Ring of the Nibelung. Mark Rogers' edition of this classic march includes a handsome full score and concert size set of parts.

Triumphal March - Franco Cesarini
The Gran Finale from the second act of Verdi's famous opera Aida, composed in 1869, is a complex part of the drama as in one single scene many different characters, allwith contrasting emotions, appear onstage at the same time. The scene opens in Ancient Egypt when the Egyptian general Radames and his troops, which have just beaten Ethiopia, come marching in. The Egyptians sing a celebration song for him and there is a sound of trumpets playing the triumphal march to receive the hero. The well-known triumphal march, transcribed in this edition for concert band by Franco Cesarini, closely follows Verdi's original score and will bring any concert to a dramatic close.

March of the Robot Army was commissioned by Linda Anzolin and Giordano-Bruno Tedeschi for Campobanda 2019, with funds made available by Just Italia. Campobanda is an Italian summer music camp for 8 to 18 year olds which has a different theme every year. The theme for 2019 was science fiction, so composer Philip Sparke chose to write a robot march. After a quirky introduction featuring trumpet calls and chromatic figures, the main theme appears in a minor mode on clarinet and tenor sax and is then taken up by the full band. A change of key heralds a new theme, led by the trumpet and again repeated by the full ensemble. A further change of key introduces a legato trio melody over a rather robotic accompaniment: instruments are added bit by bit until a climax is reached. Small motifs from the introduction then lead back to a full recapitulation, revisiting the first two themes in new guises before finishing the march with a flourish.Duration: 5.00
