    Jingleosity - James Curnow

James Curnow's clever arrangement of Jingle Bells masterfully keeps the range and rhythm demands at a pre-grade 1 level while assuring that all the players have fun in the preparation and performance. Every section is fullyinvolved, and the low woodwinds and brass get a little special time all their own. Great step dynamics are the perfect opportunity to make sure your players show a significant difference at each change. That's the kind ofpreparation that will pay off down the road at festival time in the spring. There's also plenty to keep your fledgling percussion section busy. Cool!

Masque. Wind band - Kenneth Hesketh

A Masque (short for Masquerade) has been defined by Historians as 'A revel in which Mummers or masked folk come with torches blazing into the festive hall and call upon the company to dance and dice'. The chaos of this dramaticdance is depicted in this Masque by Hesketh. The main theme is bravura and is often present, in the background. The form of the piece is a simple scherzo-trio-scherzo. Colourful scoring (upper wind solos, trumpet and hornsolos alternating with full bodied tuttis) with a dash of wildness may tease both player and listener to let their hair down a little! 'Masque' has been transcribed for wind band by Kenneth Hesketh from his ScherzoforOrchestra, commissioned by the National Children's Orchestra in 1987.

Old Macdonald Had A Farm - Leroy Anderson

Leroy Anderson's setting of Old MacDonald Had a Farm has little in the way of documentation. It was written for and programmed by the Boston Pops under Arthur Fiedler, but it did not enjoy frequent hearings, so the setting was unknown outside of Boston. Conductors should feel free to feature animal sounds closer to home (for instance the sound of pigs in swine-rich Iowa or bison in Montana). To that end it is suggested that the members of the percussion section use their creativity to add humor and local color to this arrangement. This exclusive Southern band edition by Mark Rogers reintroduces Anderson_x001A_s enchanting work to new generations of audiences.

Himlen i min famn - Carola Häggkvist

"Heaven in My Arms" is a beautiful melody by Carola Hggkvist with lyrics by Erik Hillestad. This version is without vocal soloist so the melody is spread into many parts throughout the arrangement.(There are cue notes for oboe and bassoon, where they have soloistic elements.)To the conductor:Strive for good flow and phrasing. Feel free to be a bit creative with the phrasing. It invites for two-bar phrases in the melody, but perhaps 2/2/4 could also work nicely.Balance is very important. Often there is both melody and obligato/countermelody in addition to harmonic elements. Let each of them have their own layer in the balance.Staccato effects in clarinets and marimba are intended as pizzicato effects and must be phrased. Not too static. The tutti section at 72 can be energetic with intense lines. Maybe a little pi mosso as well. Think big and orchestral with good resonance and timbre.- Reid Gilje -

Overture to Taras Bulba - Mykola Lysenko

This is an outstanding overture, little heard and played in the western world, as with much Ukrainian music. The composer was embraced by Tchaikovsky, who particularly loved the opera.

    Amni Imposita - Lionel Beltrán-Cecilia

Amni Imposita, an Overture whose melodies and sound effects seek to pay homage to the composer's hometown, Amposta. It consists of several uninterrupted fragments that make the composition a little story with sweet melodies, majestic harmonies and a touch of epic.

Calais - Douvres - Guillaume Détrez

Bordered by high whitish cliffs, the Channel Strait is considered one of the busiest maritime areas in the world. Since the 19th century, ferries have linked the city of Calais (France) to that of Dover (United Kingdom). This piece is made up of several passages from boarding to crossing, landscapes and the arrival where a few little musical winks are heard. Even if Brexit is there, the Franco-British friendship remains very present.

    Castlewood - Timothy P. Stakem

The perfect first-concert tune, Castlewood is melodic, energetic, and right in the wheelhouse of first-year players. Claves and tambourine are introduced, so there is a little something for the percussion section, too.

Home for Christmas - Maria Mena

Here's an easy arrangement of this popular Christmas song composed by Maria Mena and Martin Sjlie.I have tried to spread the melody to several groups throughout the arrangement. The melody has to be played rhythmically, but also with flow and legato style. Please strive for best possible intonation and balance where the melody is played by several players. At bar 13, clarinets and horns plays a little counter theme. Please strive for best possible intonation and balance also on this. The quarter notes played by saxophones, horn and trombones at bar 18 have both a harmonic and rhythmic function. The arrangement ends quite and calm, like a peaceful Christmas day.- Reid Gilje -

    Operation Invictus - Amy Webb

Operation Invictus is a rising band work that checks all the boxes: exciting parts for all players, commanding rhythms, and challenging, yet surmountable melodies that will leave your band feeling great about themselves and their performance. Each instrument gets to play snappy little licks that are so engaging they'll want to practice. Even the low brass gets some fanfare-like material that will sound powerful. The very word invictus is Latin for "undefeated." A tremendous piece at the easy level that can be played either at the beginning or end of your next concert or festival.
