£36.95I Don't Know Why! (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
I Don't Know Why is an unashamed homage to Stevie Wonder although there is not a note of his music in it. The piece follows the format of verse, chorus and then a shout chorus. It mostly needs a light, swing feel to it except for a bridge section (letters B and F) which needs to be straight. The shout chorus is a little gymnastic but apart from that it should be fun to play and hopefully not too technically challenging.Duration: 3.00

£36.95Sing Lullaby (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
Sing Lullaby, also known as The Infant King, is an arrangement of a Basque Carol. The words were translated into English by Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924) an Anglican priest and folk song collector. The melody was harmonized by the English organist and music editor Edgar Pettman (1866-1943) who included it with other Basque carols (also rendered by Sabine Baring-Gould) in The University Carol Book in 1922. I use a little of Pettman's harmony but also take a different look. I also set it in 3/4 time rather than Pettman's 6/8 (starting with an anacrusis) which allowed me more freedom of expression and a chance to use a few hemiolas in poignant moments. It is a beautiful, tender carol as befits a lullaby though not without a few suspensions which allude to the future trials of the Infant King described in Baring-Gould's words.- Rob WiffinDuration: 4.15

£36.95Winter Scene (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
A depiction of a cold, snowbound winter scene. This work was written shortly after the composer I finished a little piece called Summer Song. Winter Scene originally started life as a guitar piece but was expanded in several ways when casting it for wind band. Without looking for specific imagery, the composer imagined something like the snowbound scenes found in the Renaissance art of Pieter Breugel the Elder d. 1569. The music begins with some icy dissonance in the brass before the slow processional of the tune is first stated. There is some contrasting material in the middle which changes colour and key before the main theme returns with its slightly acerbic accompaniment.Duration: 3.30

£89.95Dance Suite (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
Dance Suite comprises three dances - Femme Fatale (a tango), Midnight Wish (a rumba) and Wherever I look (a Mambo). The first two movements are fairly straightforward but the mambo is a little more difficult and also requires 4 rather than three trumpets - the fourth part being included in the first trumpet part in the complete suite. The music works best with a string bass or a bass guitar but the bass line is fully cued in the tuba part. Each of the movements is also available separately.Duration: 11.00

£36.95Coach Ride (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
Coach Ride is a manic journey on a bus, obviously not taking in the M25! This fast and furious little piece in the style of Shostakovitch was originally written as an encore for the Buckinghamshire Symphonic Wind Ensemble. It is a romp of a coach ride during which the nursery rhyme The wheels on the bus go round and round makes an appearance.Duration: 3.30

£189.99Masked (Prerecorded Soundscape with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Shapiro, Alex
Movement 3 from SuspendedMasked by Alex Shapiro is composed in the exact shape of a Classical Minuet and Trio waltz, though the music--a whimsical if somewhat demented masked ball (or, balls, in this case)--bears little connection to that of Mozart or Haydn. Historically, third movement Minuets gave way to the joke-like Scherzo, and the Trio section tips its hat to some welcome levity. This is one of four movements in Suspended, a piece is composed in the tradition of an 18th century Classical symphony: four contrasting movements which serve specific functions and reveal a story. The work begins in absolute rage and chaos, then alternates between moments of grief and bleakness. Grim reality shifts to a macabre, circus-like insanity, and by the end, flickers of genuine hope contrast a pervasive sense of dread, and finally arrive at more optimistic possibilities. To perform the piece, you'll need an audio system capable of playing the pre-recorded audio tracks from a laptop computer via a small digital audio interface connected to an audio mixer. Download information is provided in the printed piece.Duration: 5.00

£53.95Operation Invictus (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Webb, Amy
Operation Invictus is a rising band work that checks all the boxes: exciting parts for all players, commanding rhythms, and challenging, yet surmountable melodies that will leave your band feeling great about themselves and their performance. Each instrument gets to play snappy little licks that are so engaging they'll want to practice. Even the low brass gets some fanfare-like material that will sound powerful. The very word invictus is Latin for "undefeated." A tremendous piece at the easy level that can be played either at the beginning or end of your next concert or festival. Duration: 3.00
