The final part relates how Jan van Rijnesteyn goes to war against Hendrik van Vianen and Lord of 'Goy,Viscount of Utrecht.Jan loots hispossessions and threathens to conquer all. In het jaar 1368 betrekt een roofzuchtig heerschap het kasteel Reijnestein te Cothen.Het is Johan, de bastaardzoon van de Utrechtse bisschop. Rond dit nu zo vredig gelegen ridderslot hebben zich toen geruchtmakende taferelen afgespeeld. In het eerste deel trekt Johan met Willem Gullik, de hertog van Gelre, ten strijde tegen koning Karel van Frankrijk. De terugreis speelt zich af in het tweede deel. Tijdens deze reis neemt Johan in Henegouwen twee Franse goudsmeden gevangen en sluit ze op in de kerker van slot Rijnesteyn. Deel 3 is de muzikale weergave van een hoofs ballet in middeleeuwse stijl. In het laatste deel wordt verteld hoe Jan van Rijnesteyn in 1396 ten strijde trekt tegen Hendrik van Vianen en de heer van't Goy, burggraaf van Utrecht. Jan plundert diens goederen en dreigt diens bezittingen te veroveren.

A brief history: Pentecost Monday was a special day for schools in Yorkshire (England). There were a variety of activities. The pupils of Sabine Baring-Gould would meet with the children of a nearby village. It seemed like a good idea that during the walk would be sung. But she could not find a suitable song and decided to write one by herself. "Onward Christian Soldiers" was the result. It soon became very popular, though she herself was not entirely satisfied with the rhyme scheme. The melody used (St. Gertrude) was by the famous English composer Sir Arthur S. Sullivan. Back to now: Gawan Roberts, has given the hymn a proper update. He gave the still popularsong a solid rock beat and added daring harmonies. So it's popular, for current generations, again for years. Onward!

Glitter and glamour, good-looking people, a lot of Bling Bling and fast cars images like these will cross our minds when we think of the movie world. However, reality proves to be different : as a rule, a tremendous amount of work will have been done on the set before a film is ready to be shown on the big screen. A visit to an actual movie set inspired John Emerson Blackstone to write a composition bearing the same name. He had both seen a number of characteristic attributes and heard the typical phrases used in film making, and he incorporated them into 'On the Movie Set' . In the first part, 'The Clapboard', a 'director's assistant' is supposed to shout "Quieton the set'" and "Action!", as is done before a real scene is shot. Subsequently, in order to create the right atmosphere, the clacking of a 'Clapboard' should be heard. During a romantic scene we should be transported to another world by means of sweet sounds in the background, so romantic music is of course heard in the next part, 'Love Scene'. At the end of a long working day 'It's a wrap' is called on the set to inform everyone that the filming on that day is completed. Now there is only one more thing left to dream of : an Oscar..... Perf. Note: The use of the right props will add to the performance and appreciation of 'On the Movie Set'. A red carpet and a glamorous reception should give your audience the feeling they are attending a real 'opening night'!

He had fallen in love with the marvellous sonorities of a symphonic band and wanted to join the wind players in a concert, so he wrote this concerto and gave it a parade character.PARADE CONCERTO was premiered in 1972 by Pierre NIMAX in Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxemburg), G. WAGNER conducting. That same year the composer performed it for the first time, in Spain with the Banda Primitiva from Lliria, Jan MOLENAAR conducting. He has performed it since in many countries, including France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Luxemburg, Norway and the USA.

£116.40Rapsodie sur des Themes Normands - Serge Lancen
The Paris born composer and pianist Serge Lancen (1922-2005) studied the piano with Marguerite Long and composition with Tony Aubin at the conservatory of his native town and was awarded a Prix de Rome. Lancen composed symphonic music, choral works, ballet music and several concertos.In 1960 he met his ancient study friend Dsir Dondeyne, conductor of the Paris Metropolitan Police Band, who incited him to write for symphonic band. Lancen wrote an impressive series of wind band works that earned him an international reputation. Among his most successful compositions are Manhattan Symphony (1962) an Cape Kennedy (1970), but we should not forget that Lancen also wrote several fine works for symphonic bands of average level. So he did in 1976 by writing two rhapsodies based respectively on Breton and Normandy themes. The Rhapsody on Themes from Normandy was recorded in 1977 on a long playing record by the French National Police Band conducted by Pierre Bigot alongside with Le Mont-Saint-Michel, Hymne la Musique and Rapsodie sur des Thmes Breton. Rhapsody on Themes from Normandy is a piece that is characterized by an original orchestration and fluent melodic lines, two main characters of Lancen's music.
