Promised Land - Sean O'Loughlin
Promised Land is a serious-sounding, new piece for the developing band that sounds much more difficult than it plays, allowing your students to show off while remaining at their ability level. The title has its roots in the ideals of John Humphrey Noyes, who founded the Oneida community in the late 1840s. He built a thriving agricultural and spiritual community that became his promised land. The music depicts the struggles and triumph of those first settlers in the area, who worked the land and fought for their ideals through much persecution. Promised Land contains all of the rhythmic interest and memorable motives that Sean's music is so known for. It is also an excellentchoice for contest/festival.

Relics Of The Past - Sean O'Loughlin
As the title implies, here is a piece from popular composer Sean O'Loughlin that harkens back to ancient times. The minor mode gives the piece a seriousness that students will love. Relics of the Past was inspired by the composer's trip to Yosemite National Park with his family, where he was awed by the majestic, expansive views of the park. Uncle Henry - Howard E. Akers
Uncle Henry was the nickname given to Henry Fillmore around the state of Florida by band directors and band students for all that he did to raise the standard of bands in the state. Howard Akers pays tribute to Henry with this stellar march that was originally published one year After Fillmore's death in 1957. Barn Dance - Carl Strommen
It is suggested that there was an actual piece called "Dancing in the Barn" that gave rise to the term "barn dance." These were generally community events that included square dancing, Morris and Contra, and English country dancing.
