Another fabulous arrangement from Adrian Taylor of popular tunes for Junior Wind Ensemble. It is not necessary to have all parts being played for these arrangements. Most will work fine with just the two Trumpet/Clarinet parts and a bass line from trombones, tubas or bassoons. With the exception of the bassoon part, all instruments have a part 1 (more advanced and with key signatures) and a part 2 (easier music, lower notes, rarely crossing the break for woodwind players, and without key signatures for treble clef instruments). A piano part is included to help fill out the harmonies for smaller groups.

The first part was published as a short march for piano and violin and the two contrasting sections were added later. The result is a very enjoyable and playable Sousa march with optional endings that can be performed in a variety of ways.

March of the Tin Soldiers employs themes from Leon Jessels popular march, Parade of the Tin Soldiers. Originally composed for piano, it was later published for orchestra and gained international acclaim in Russia, France, and finally here in the United States on Broadway. Its probably best known for its use by the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes as part of their Christmas Spectacular in New York City. Along with the movement to Impressionism during the latter part of the 19th century, the French were caught up in the popularity of American ragtime and early jazz. Erik Saties piano piece Le Piccadilly, composed in 1903, was his own tribute to the syncopated dancing rhythms and lively melodies that made the genre so appealing. This fine realization brings the best of the genre and the eccentricities of the composer to the capable wind ensemble. A concert treat.

Mountain March - Wim Laseroms
A fanfare introduces This festive march is introduced by a lively fanfare which leads into the first, playful, melodic line which features a regular dynamic alternation and a light syncopated rhythm. After the traditional bass solo, the first theme returns. The initial theme, performed by piano and cantabile trio, later sounds in a jubilant forte with various figurations in the higher woodwinds. The fine work Mountain March is suitable as a street march, but will also gain much appreciation on the concert platform.
