Introduction - Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen
"Introduction" is a short concert opener. I quote a couple of Norwegian Folk Tunes to make a musical picture of the Vikings running from the seashore to face a battle. They used to drink something made of mushrooms to prevent fear and pain - They became Berserkings! The piece was originally scored for Brass Band and commissioned by Manger Musikklag in 1998. This version was commissioned by The Royal Norwegian Navy Band in 2002 and re-edited in 2018.

Lullaby for small goblins - Gudny Hagen
"Amalies Christmas" is a Norwegian TV series for children, produced by NRK in 1995, and broadcasted again in 19976, and in 2000.The program consisted of 24 episodes, and follows Amalie Wang (Anne Marie Ottesen) making preperations forChristmas in an old house where there lived goblins. The program was the first of many to follow, based on the author Gudny I. Hagens characters. The music is composed by Philip A. Kruse, and all episodes ended with the goblin family (HaraldHeide-Steen jr., Brit Elisabeth Haagensli og Pia Borgli) singing "Lullaby for small goblins".This arrangement for young concert band may be performed with different instrumental soloist or vocalist.Chords are included for piano/guitar. It isimportant to focus on the dynamics and the tempo. The soloist must be heard clearly and adding a choir in the refrains makes it even nicer. It is a melodic song that suits being performed in churches and rooms with ambience. The song is often usedaround Christmas time, but it is written as a small lullaby that can be played anytime.

An American Tapestry - Daniel Kallman
An American Tapestry is a continuous medley of three American folk songs: the happy-go-lucky The Girl I Left Behind Me, the somber and reflective He's Gone Away, and the foot-stompin' hoedown Ol' Dan Tucker. The setting was originally composed for chamber winds (11 players) and has been completely re-scored by the composer in this new edition for full wind ensemble. The contrasting tempi and sentiments of the tunes, enlivened with unique and colorful harmonies and instrumentation, contribute to make this appealing for wind players from high school to professional.
