In the second part of the two-piece work Metropolis of the East is the Old Market, the centre point of the city of Enschede in the Netherlands. Elements such as the Great Church, the monument to the city fire of 1862, and historical events such as the textile strike can be heard in this piece, as well as the sounds of the many al-fresco cafes, the theatre Concordia, and the many festivals. This piece is coupled with The Cotton Phoenix (Alex Poelman) but functions well as a stand-alone work.

Children's Oak was commissioned by the wind band from Beauquesne, France. This solemn work pays homage to a city particularly affected by the two World Wars and is inspired by the knowledge that the city of Beauquesne needed to recover from these terrible episodes in its history. The title has its origin in the roots of the word "Beauquesne", the beautiful oak tree. It is a beautiful slow piece for your concert, or as a resource to work on phrasing and intonation, or alternatively as a warm up piece.

The inspiration for Downtown Divertimento comes from Johan de Meijs daily wanderings in Chelsea, in lower Manhattan. The day begins with a leisurely walk to Madison Square Park with his dog Alice. They visit the dog run where she meets up withother city canines. On the way back they have a moment of reflection looking at the nearby Flatiron Building, the striking triangular city landmark. Johan goes for a run later in the day. His jogging shoes naturally head for The Highline, anabandoned railway viaduct that was transformed into a lushly landscaped National Park. He absorbs the spectacular views of the Hudson River and the majestic New York skyline as if seeing them for the first time.The movements are:1) Dog Play (at Madison Square Park)2) Flatiron Reverie3) Hitting the Highline

A very exciting and contemporary work that is descriptive of the tragedy that occurred in Central America in 1541 when a long quiet volcano that had filled with water suddenly erupted, sending mud and water covering the city of Ciudad Vieja killing many and completely wiping out the city. The name of that volcano was Agua, which on that day brought whelm on to everything that its waters touched. This is the second published work by young composer Cory McBride and was written when he was a 16 year old high school student. Bold, unique and distinctive, includes solos for flute, tenor sax, bari sax & horn and it's an excellent programming choice for any festival or concert performance by better bands.

Rob Romeyn's "Cityscapes" is a brilliantly programmatic and celebratory concert opener for mature ensembles. Audiences will be mesmerized by the sparkling opening measures depicting the hustle and bustle of a large city. Our journey continues with a sensitive and expressive section depicting a sunset over downtown, then leads to a section of building intensity and power, creating an incredible climax. From here, the intensity subsides, building imagery of the beautiful scenes of what a large city has to offer. The piece develops further, eliciting an ending of immense emotion and power as our journey concludes. A part for optional piano is included. A valuable addition to the repertoire for more experienced ensembles, "Cityscapes" is sure to impress!This work is not yet in print. Reflections on Paris is the result of the composer's visit to the city in the summer of 1972. During one day of his stay in the city, he had the occasion to visit the Louvre, after which he strolled through the Tuileries Gardens,past the Place de la Concorde and up the Grand Avenue des Champs-Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe. The specific impressions of this excursion gave rise to the present programmatic composition. (15:00)

Creamy and Crispy - Marc Cunningham
This composition of Marc Cunningham has four parts, and takes place on a sunny day in a picturesque town. 1. Promenade Many people walk through the city. The band passes through the streets. People are strolling along the avenues and amorous couples are sitting on a park bench. 2. Lovey Dovey One of these couples is knee-deep in love. 3. Crispy and Creamy Here the contrasts between a crisp staccato section in two-four time signature and a smooth legato section in three-four time signature are depicted. Is Crispy the boy and Creamy the girl? 4. Farewell In the last particle the couple says goodbye. We still think back tothe walk through the city. It sounds a little less happy now. Not everyone is good at saying goodbye, sometimes a tear flows.

Kiev is one of the oldest in the former USSR city, it has its own originality and has a lot of parks and public gardens. Chestnuts trees among others are very beautiful and considered as a typical sign for this city. The content of this 'instrumental song', as it always happens in music with its universal language, is to express warm, 'sweet' and cheerful feelings.
