You pass them along the street. There is sadness, but then you are there, at the gates of the castle. You enter, the festivities begin, and you have a wonderful evening. Enjoy a bit of medieval festival humor. 1st trumpet's highest note is D. No clarinets cross the break.

Fortress - Concert March - Geir Sundbø
This concert march describes a town in the middle ages which is attacked by enemies. The citizens, helped by the fortress` soldiers suffer losses, but manage to win the battle.The march starts off with a fanfare, after which the main theme ispresented by the clarinets. This theme arrives in different variations separated by new fanfares, until the victory is celebrated and the main theme changes from minor to major mode.

£228.70Reflections - Suite on a Norwegian Folk Tune - John Brakstad
The suite is constructed around a Norwegian folk tune. The melody is called "Dark Forebodings", and the words of the song revolve around thoughts and reflections on a future that can take unexpected, insecure, or perhaps dramatic and tragic turns.This is essentially a sad song with a beautiful melody. The folk tune itself is presented in the 2nd movement. In the 1st movement, the folk tune is joined with fleeting themes that indicate the unexpected; as if the music sometimesis confused as to which way to go. There are constant changes in atmosphere and feeling, from the harsh and dissonant, to the harmonious and melodic. The 3rd movement presents a more lively variant of thefolk tune, showing optimism andhappiness, even though the "halting" character of the rhythm underscores the unpredictable. The title "Reflections", therefore, refers to thoughts we can have about life. To the Conductor:The 2nd movement has an alternativeending which is may be used if the movement is played as an independent lyrical piece in a concert.It is advisable to begin first rehersal with the 2nd movement so that the main theme is known, before beginning on the 1st movement with itsmore semi-tonal parts. Intervals and intonation can provide much of the challenge in this movement.The 3rd movement can be more technically challenging, but there is considerable leeway in the tempo marking! It is important to maintain theenergy and intensity of the music through the whole movement.

Starsleet - Aslak Dørum
Stjernesludd is a hit single from the popular Norwegian band DumDum Boys. The song-writer Aslak Drum is the bass-player in the band. It was recorded in 1997, and it has been a well know radio-hit ever since. The lyrics are set in a dark tone, andthey tell the story of a gloomy and "black and white" feeling in the cold weather before Christmas. "But when the winter comes, we can make angels in the snow..." In 2010, Norwegian singer Kurt Nilsen accompanied by The Norwegian RadioOrchestra recorded it for their CD "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".If performed with Tenor Sax soloist, the first time bracket can be omitted.

The title is "Continental Divide" and it has nothing to do with tectonic plates, but is another word for "Watershed". It is the place where the the water flows in opposite directions. For example, when you drive up a mountain, the water flows downwards, the same does it when you drive down the other side. On top there is usually a water, and it is in this water, or musical idea if you like, that it is a continental divide. What I intend is that in this piece there are some musical motifs that change character and direction. They can be in the foreground and carry the play, or they may be in the background as a countermeasure. It can also be from horizontal lines to vertical. Orrhythmical patterns that dont find their match until far into the piece.

The two movements in this symphony have quite similar structure and length, and this is no coincidence. As a composer, I try to create two musical stories that comes from the same starting point and thought, but they sound and feel different. Music often describes something you cant say in words. Halvdan Sivertsen (born 1950) is one of the most popular singer/ songwriters in Norway. He is well know as a first-class storyteller, and he has a strong melodic line in all his music. This Christmas song was first recorded in 1991 and it has become a Norwegian classic. The lyrics tell the story of a couple travelling through time to find a city with bright lights, where they hear people sing about the couple who are about to have their first baby. But still this couple can not find anybody willing to help them, and they are forced to go back 2000 years, to find the stable where they find some shelter. Maybe they should have travelled further ahead in time in the firstplace, to find people willing to open their door to the poor and needing?

This pop-song written and performed by Halvdan Sivertsen was first released on the record album "Hilsen Halvdan" in 1991. Since then, is has been a classic song in Norway. The lyrics is about the benefits of having a lifelong friendship. This arrangement can be performed with SATB choir but works very well also as an instrumental piece. "Answer Me, My Love" was originally written with German lyrics by Fred Rauch and music by Gerard Winkler under the title "Mutterlein". Shortly after, Carl Sigman wrote the English lyrics and gave it the title "Answer Me, My Love" which is now the most famous version. It became a hit in 1953, but it was during 1954 that Nat King Cole recorded it and made it a chart-topper in both the US and Europe. In 2000 the Canadian composer and singer Joni Mitchell included it on her successful record album "Both Sides Now".
