Variations on 'Laudate Dominum' - Edward Gregson
The theme is a noble hymn tune by Sir Hubert H. Parry, associated with the words 'O praise ye the Lord'. There are seven contrasting variations that will provide much interest to the player as well as the listener, the seventh of which is a fugato which leads into a triumphant finale where the theme is heard for the first time in its completion. This, we feel, will be a significant work for Wind Band as it has been for the brass band movement.

El Cid tells in four parts (The rise of a legend - Fighting the Moors - Jimena - El Cid Campeador) the story of Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, a Spanish knight of the 11th century who was known by his nickname El Cid Campeador ('Lord Champion'). This warrior earned a lot of respect at both Christian and Moorish side, and became a Spanish national hero who symbolizes chivalry en virtue.

£67.00A Joyful Noise - Steven Rosenhaus
"A Joyful Noise" was originally commissioned for 2 F horns. The title comes from Psalm 100, which begins (in English) "Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!" In early 2022, composer Steven Rosenhaus followed up on a suggestion to make the music, originally for two horns and organ, available to more musicians; he rescored it for two euphoniums or trombones and band, changing nothing substantial except transposing the work to better fit the new ensemble. Though the 1st trumpet's highest note is G and the range of the instruments stay pretty much within the range of a grade 3, the composition is quite syncopated, thus moving its grade level to a 4. This is a great work to explore these rhythms while staying within an accessible range for your band.

The main theme is a variation of the U.S. Air Force Song (Off We Go), with a secondary theme based on A Toast to the Host (the bridge of The Air Force Song). Prelude on 'Lavenham' was written for the 130th anniversary, in 2014, of Lavenham Corps in Suffolk and was first performed at their anniversary concert in the village's beautiful Parish Church by Kettering Citadel Band. It's an arrangement of a tune the composer wrote to the words, 'Lord, there are times', a lovely hymn by the Reverend Nick Fawcett. The arrangement is dedicated to the memory of Bandmaster Derek Wilding of Lavenham Corps.The music is serene and free-flowing and was written with the rich and warm acoustics of the lovely medieval church very much in mind. It should be played cantabile throughout, with close attention to contrasts in dynamics.
