Princess Mononoke Fantasy Scenes - Joe Hisaishi
Princess Mononoke (1997) is recognized for its outstanding soundtrack. The CD "Princess Mononoke" recorded by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra after the film's release is also widely known. The CD arrangement follows the soundtrack and adds detailed scenes from the film with some development.Consider this arrangement a sequel to my previous "Selections from Princess Mononoke" as I have utilized additional songs from the soundtrack.By commission request from Mr. Shindo, director of the Girls Junior & Senior High School band club of Seitoku University, I arranged "San and Ashitaka in the Forest of the Deer" and "World of the Dead." The original features piano solo, which is very appealing. I made it optional which can be played by other instruments if needed. The Opera "The Cossacs" by Catharinus Elling is based on the Nikolai Gogol novel about Taras Bulba."The Cossacs" was premiered in 1897 at Eldorado in Kristiania (the old name on Norway's capitol Oslo). Despite positive response in the papers of that time, the opera was newer performed again in it's entirely. The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation have an abbreviated recording in it's archives, but no complete performance is known to date.The Norwegian National Opera Orchestra recorded both the overture and the dances in 2021, conducted by Ingar Bergby. Thet are both a part of the CD "Norwegian Opera Overtures".This arrangement is not commissioned by anyone, but rather written to better the availability of quality Norwegian orchestral music arranged for Concert Band.This edition is a good opportunity to be more familiar with Norwegian heritage of orchestral music.

Variations on a Fourth was written for an innovative project initiated by the Siena Wind Orchestra from Tokyo. Four European and four Japanese composers created a new wind orchestra piece for a special concert held on 15 June 2019 in Bunkyo Civic Concert Hall, where all eight works - that were recorded for a CD release the previous day - were performed. Variations on a Fourth comprises four variations, all of which feature the musical interval of a fourth in much of their melodic and harmonic material. The result is a four-movement work of wide-ranging appeal that will be an absolute joy to play!

"Vsen" ("commotion", "fuss", "ado") is a Swedish acoustic band consisting of three outstanding instrumentalists playing viola, 12-string guitar and nyckelharpa ("key-harp"). They have been touring together since 1989. The song "Gudda" is from a CD they released in 2017, and it is composed by guitar-player Roger Tallroth. The title refers to the song being (originally) in G-major and in "udda" (Swedish for "odd") time-signatures. Please, maintain a singing, legato style throughout.

The main theme from the movie with the same title, produced in 1962, directed by Blake Edwards and starring Jack Lemmon and Lee Remmick in the leading roles. The composer is one of the great names in music for the movies, Henry Mancini, with lyrics by Johnny Mercer. The song won a Grammy Award for best movie theme. This arrangement was made in 2006 and performed for the rst time by Suoni Wind Orchestra of Skiem, Norway at their Promenade Concert Days of Wine and Roses. It was later recorded on their CD Ambassador". On both occasions it was conducted by the arranger, yvind Strand.
