Far Eastern Dream - Paul Voet

The longest trip we make is to the Far East. Japan, China, Tibet,... all countries with an enormous cultural background and history. Percussion is very important here to give a rich dimension to this Japanese 'Black Bamboo' theme. Tam-tam, Chinese cymbals, Tibetan gong and a kododrum (if not possible, large floor tom) together with marimba and glockenspiel are used all the time in a carefulway. A solo cornet presents the main theme that is answered by the whole lower brass section. Whilethis theme develops now and then the sounds of the impressive 'dung' is heard. (dung is the Tibetan very large trumpet-like instrument with loud and very deep sounds) In a quicker tempo Eb bass, euphonium and solo cornet start with the theme and even the counter theme. The whole group joins the party but everything ends very silently with mute.

Far From Over is the title song of Staying Alive, the 1983 film sequel to Saturday Night Fever, starring John Travolta. The movie was directed and co-written by Sylvester Stallone and Far From Over was written by Frank Stallone, brother of Sylvester Stallone. The soundtrack was released in 1983 and is mainly performed by the Bee Gees. Far From Over was a top-ten U.S. single in September 1983, peaking at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming his only major hit. In 1983 the song was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

Farandole - Francois Dorion

Featuring snare drum and flutes at the start Farandole (traditional French dance) is sure to be a fun piece for your beginning students. The catchy melody is passed around to each section of the band, and cleverly scored with simple rhythms and very limited ranges. The First Concepts Series features simplified instrumentations, unison bass lines, optional advanced snare drum parts, and optional piano accompaniments.

Farewell - Eric Swiggers

Farewell was composed at the farewell of Fanfare Trompetterkorps Der Cavalerie in 1993. The work is based on 2 of the most famous tattoo signals in military music: "Reveille" and "Tattoo." Farewell opens festively with blasting trumpets and then continues with a somewhat melancholy melody based on the reveille theme. After interweaving all the signals and themes in the work's climax, the work ends quietly, with "in the distance" a lone trumpet playing the tattoo signal....

Farewell and Celebration

This powerful work for band is composed in two main sections. The opening slow section features stunning impact points mixed with moments of majestic lyricism and distinctive harmonies. The energetic Presto section in 3/4 is introduced using a percussion ostinato with heroic and fanfare-like figures layered in from various sections of the band.
