£50.80Dance of the One-legged Sailor - Dick van Heuvel
The work describes a short dance by a one-legged sailor. In the 6/8 beat the sailor always makes the wrong steps and gets furious about it. So he stamps his wooden leg (sounded by beats on two large woodblocks) in anger on the floor. Yet he tries again and each time the theme changes a little bit. The two passages when the musicians blow air through their instruments (measures 44-45 and 63-64) represent the sailor's sighing. The 'Dance of the one-legged sailor' also offers several possibilities to bring this sailor on the stage during the performance of the composition.

This piece is based on the chapter of the same name, a part of the book 'Camera Obscura' (1839) written by Hildebrand, pen-name of the chaplain and writer/poet Nicolaas Beets (Haarlem, 1814 - Utrecht, 1903). The composition follows the story very closely: the three main characters Hildebrand, Nurks and Boerhave, as well as their vicissitudes are extremely well evoked by the music.

Towards A New Life (Josef Suk) was written in 1919 as a patriotic march, dedicated to the young Czechoslovakian army. In the same year he submitted this work to a composition competition where this march was chosen as the winner. Suk's festive march received further accolades when it was chosen as the winners march during the Olympic Games held in Los Angeles in 1932. During World War II it was the opening tune to the radio broadcast of the Czech government in the United Kingdom. A splendid opening piece for Harmony or Fanfare Band, skilfully arranged by Ton van Grevenbroek.

Suite for Wind Band - Bob Vos
The "Suite voor Harmonieorkest"was written in 1962 commissioned by the Ministry of Culture at that time. The rave reviews Bob Vos got for his "Concertino for Eb Clarinet and wind band led tot his commision. In this fourfold suite the composer succeeded to build a bridge between a, at that time, modern idiom and more traditional styles. Ton van Grevenbroek was commissioned by "Kunstfactor" to revise this wonderful suite and to modernize the instrumentation.
