The Greek word 'hypernikon' roughly translates as 'More Than Conquerors', the motto of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts the commissioner of this piece. The work is inspired by David Rox's very own name the first two letters of his name, D and A, sets the first theme is in D major, with these notes being the tonic and dominant of the scale. After the stately intrada, the tempo accelerates and the festive feel of the march emerges. The trio melody serves as a beautiful contrast before finally ending with the opening theme in a grand tutti.

This piece was written to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Takayama Wind Orchestra, who also commissioned it. The historic city of Takayama draws numerous visitors from home and abroad, not just to see its well-preserved old houses and buildings but also because every year several historic processions take place, with beautiful floats. When these ride through the city, age-old melodies are heard played on wooden flutes, accompanied by muted drums. This image is evoked at the beginning of the work, followed by an archaic sounding melody in a typically Japanese pentatonic sequence, that develops throughout. In this challenging piece Eastern and Western influences alternate,creating a sensational and overwhelming musical effect!

Les pcheurs de perles (The Pearl Fishers) is an opera in three acts by French composer Georges Bizet, who particularly made his fame with his opera Carmen. The friendship duet Au fond du temple saint, generally known as ThePearl Fishers Duet, is one of the best known in the opera literature. This arrangement for two trombones was written for and dedicated to trombone legends Joseph Alessi and Jrgen van Rijen. It serves as a possible encore piece in combinationwith Two-Bone Concerto, which was also written for them. The duet can also be performed by two euphoniums, or as the original vocal duet for tenor and baritone voice.

The name Cambrinus, a corrupted variation on 'Jan Primus' (John the First), refers to the flamboyant John I of Brabant, who was the Duke of the Dutch provinces Brabant and Limburg, in the second half of the 13th century. This piece of music tells the story of this notable man, starting with the Battle of Worringen in 1288, where he scored a glorious victory, followed by an exuberant celebration in which he also contemplates about the suffering he and his men have caused. Die Bnkelsngerlieder (buskers songs) originally stem from the seventeenth century. Robert van Beringen, who is known for his attractive arrangements of classical melodies, created a colourful transcription for wind band based on this characteristic music.
