Concerto for Trombone - Jan Bosveld
Concerto for Trombone" was written especially for Jrgen van Rijen, the solo trombonist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. It is a composition without a story, consisting of four overlapping parts. The solo part was not written for Jrgen van Rijen technical skills, but rather for his expressive technique in the higher registers. According to Jan Bosveld, Jrgen van Rijen has additional merits that distinguish him from all other trombonists. "Concerto for Trombone" was premiered at the International Music Festival in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. The Reprsentations Orchester des Schweizer Armeespiel, conducted by Christopher Walter, accompanied him. This composition was made financially possible by the Music Lending and Information Centre (MUI), department of the library for the province of Gelderland in Arnhem, The Netherlands. Special thanks goes to mr. Bert Aalders, director of the MUI.

T-Bone Concerto (Trombone Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Meij, Johan
The T-Bone Concerto was Johan de Meij's first composition for solo instrument and symphonic band. It consists of three movements called respectively 'Rare', 'Medium' and 'Well Done'. In addition to the solo trombone, an important role has been allotted to a kind of chamber music ensemble within the band. This group introduces new thematic material and accompanies the soloist, thus creating a delightful transparant accompaniment. The ensemble consists of a double wind quintet (2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 french horns and 2 bassoons) plus a cor anglais and a double bass. Parts I and II are written in the A-B-A form and allow the soloist to display both the technical and the lyrical characteristics of the instrument. Part III at first develops into a kind of neo-baroque style using the thematic material of the first and second movement, and finally leads to a triumphant finale and a virtuoso conclusion. Downtown Diversions (Concerto for Trombone and Wind Band) (Trombone Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Gorb, Adam
The piece all trombonists have been shouting for; a triumph of Gorb's stylish, almost casual brilliance, immaculate timing, melodic invention and instinctive mastery of resources. Scoring is deft, even delicate, the solo writing rewardingly characteristic while avoiding all those cringe-making trombone clichs. The gently swung, bluesy second movement is some of the best cod Jazz you will ever hear. A delight on every page and all done with the lightest of hands. Please note: This set of parts does not include music for the soloist.
