Three traditional Christmas tunes are featured, including I Saw Three Ships; Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabella and We Three Kings of Orient Are. Each carol is introduced and then combined and overlapped for a rousing effect complete with a crisp percussion transition. An unexpected and lively 7/8 ending brings the work to a thrilling finish that is energetic and intense.

Almost any village or town in Flanders boasts an inn called 'Under the Clock Tower'. This composition describes the atmosphere of the musical life in the village, concentrated around the market place or the ... village green.I. To play under the trees: A quiet, charming evocation.II. To play for the landlady and her daughter: The older musicians do their utmost to please the mother, whereas the youngsters try to draw the attention of her daughter.III. To play at the annual Saint Cecilia Festivities: This is festive music, sometimes solemn, sometimes caustic, always light and fresh; towards the end there is a strong enlargement and a stretto. This work was selected by the Belgian Radio for the 1977 ERU Contest in Yougoslavia and was performed by the Belgian Gendarmerie Band conducted by Roland Cardon.

Using three varying images from pursuits on the water, 'The Big Splash' has moments of excitement, soft melodies and crunching harmonies. Each section is given an opportunity to shine in this 3-part original work. Movement I entitled 'Launching' sets the scene of a speedboat accelerating into the water. 'Drifting' (mov. II) portrays images of the sunset over the water's edge and in the minor key there is a sense of thoughtfulness as well as tranquillity. The last movement has a grander feel to it. Titled 'Cruising' there are moments you can imagine a larger carrier chip setting sail as well as a sense of anticipation and excitement from those climbing aboard. Sverre Bergh (1915-1980) was a central character in the music scene in Bergen, both as a musical leader at "Den Nationale Scene" (theatre) and as a director for the "Festspillene" music festival. He was an arranger and pianist for the NorwegianBroadcasting Company (NRK), and wrote stage- and film scores as well as piano pieces. "Country-Folk in Town" is one movement from "Village Sketches". This small overture was written for the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
