£76.80The Lion King - Hans Zimmer
The popular and excentric British singer, pianist and composer Elton John (1947) reached the international hitparades with such songs as 'Crocodile Rock' and 'Candle in the Wind'. It was a stroke of genius of the Walt Disney Studios to invite him to write the soundtrack for their latest full length cartoon 'The Lion King' (June 1994). Its success rapidly surpassed that of 'Aladdin' and even that of 'Beauty and the Beast'. Its credit titles mention over 600 names! The adventures of King Muphasa and Crown Prince Simba are wonderfully backed by Elton John's songs 'Circle of Life', 'I just can't wait to be King' and 'Can you feel the Love'. Hans van der Heide signed this extremely well sounding wind band arrangement.

Grainger himself said of this piece, "...the music seemed to reflect both Handel and English musical comedy... as if jovial old Handel were careening down the Strand (London's Broadway) to the strains of modern English popular music."
