£55.00Procession of the Regal Scepter - Arthur J Michaels
Programme notes from the composer, Arthur J Michaels:"Procession of the Regal Scepter," (Grade II level), captures the regal splendor and majestic grandeur of processions, inaugurations, coronations and other stately ceremonies past and present, here and abroad. The piece begins with dignified legato phrases. A middle section features the brass instruments in a more punched, staccato style, followed by the woodwinds' antiphonal response. The piece then restates both the legato phrases of the beginning and the antiphonal staccato portions, and the piece ends in a stirring finish."Procession of the Regal Scepter" is within reach of less experienced bands yet suitable for more experienced groups. Ample doubling and cues let bands with limited or uneven perform the piece successfully. The piece's plentiful cuing allows for great performance flexibility. For this reason, "Procession of the Regal Scepter" works well in any concert program.

£55.00The Declaration of Arbroath - Andrew Duncan
Programme notes from the composer, Andrew Duncan:Originally written for The West Lothian Schools' Annual Concert 2006 and scored for Concert Band, Brass Band, Highland Bagpipes, Children's Choir and Narrator. This version has been rescored for Concert Band with optional parts for Highland Bagpipes and Narrator. The piece celebrates the internationally renowned Declaration of Arbroath. The music begins in the uncertain times of Scotland's early 14th century, following the Battle of Banockburn and the death of William Wallace. The narrator describes this scene and explains the origins of the Declaration. The music builds to a climax, but once again gives way to uncertainty, allowing the narrator to explain further the history surrounding the Declaration. A group of Scottish Nobles wrote the Declaration which was an appeal to the Pope to recognize Scotland's independence. The piece then reflects a positive outcome following the Pope's support of the Declaration. Further information is provided by the narrator which draws to a rousing build to express the emotive inspiration behind this composition. The original scoring (to include Concert Band, Brass Band, Highland Bagpipes, Choir and Narrator) is also available by request.

£40.00The Water of Tyne - Traditional
A delightful setting of a traditional North East melody, arranged in a hauntingly pastorale style with all the skill we have come to expect from Philip Harper.Featuring the euphonium and principal cornet with the melody at first, the piece then builds to a passionate full band rendition which eases back to a tranquil, effective close. A great piece to offer every level of band the opportunity to add some stylish peace to their programme.

Keep the Faith - Score and Parts - Duncan Stubbs
Program NotesKeep the Faith originally started as a personal tribute to my late mother. Not long after writing the opening ideas I was approached to write music to accompany a rendition of the poem "We Will Keep the Faith" by Moina Michael for performance as part of the 100th Anniversary of the start og World War I. The appropriateness of the music already written and the sentiment behind both concepts was a coincidence too good to overlook. Rarely sentimental and always practical I feel sure my mum would be delighted that the music she originally inspired was being used to portray a much wider universal message of remembrance.Whether performed with or without the poem a fully sustained sound should always be aimed for. The 'bugle' call at bar 20 and again at bar 76 should reflect a distant call across the trenches, the cornet remaining prominent over the upper woodwind. The tempo indication is a guide only and allowance must be made for the acoustic in which the piece is performed. The music must always flow, but appropriate rubato should be freely used together with appropriate tenuto in the middle of phrases.- Duncan Stubbs

The Call of the Righteous - Score and Parts - Leslie Condon
Program NotesCall of the Righteous is a tone poem that uses the Gospel song melody "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder" as its main theme. An unforgiving opening unison trumpet fanfare leads into the first statement of the tune, which then appears, either in its entirety or in fragments, throughout the piece alongside further thematic material derived from the opening fanfare theme. The reflective central section contains a beautiful original melody, introduced by the clarinet and developed elsewhere, before the music reverts to ideas derived from the opening section, introduced by a recapitulation of the opening fanfare figure, which is further developed to bring the music to a thrilling and dramatic conclusion.Although the music has its creative roots in religious doctrine, it has a lasting and popular appeal that makes it accessible and listenable at every level, with plenty to challenge on both technical and musical levels.
