Trieste Overture - Pietro Deiro
Like all of Deiro's overtures, "Trieste" is in the style of Rossini's operatic overtures.A forceful, dramatic opening is followed by a warm bel canto melody then bounds into a series of opera buffa melodies, with dazzling bravura parts for everyone, even a rousing basso profundo for the bottom of the band. A brand-new festive melody, a breathtaking coda, and a dramatic maestoso restatement of the opening theme bring this happy escapade to a jubilant finale. Fun for everyone!

£169.00William Tell Overture - Gioachino Rossini
One of the great, classic transcriptions of the concert band repertoire, Leidzen's famous arrangement of the most popular and beloved of Rossini's opera overtures has been reissued in a fine modern edition edited by Tommy J. Fry. From the atmospheric opening, through the brilliant storm sequence and following pastorale (with its English horn solo), to the quick march, almost inseparable, for Americans of a certain age, from The Lone Ranger, this is a dazzling survey of what a talented modern band should be able to achieve.

£59.95Hope Springs Eternal (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
A concert overture with interest and colour for the whole band, Hope Springs Eternal was written during the seemingly interminable lockdowns of 2020. The intention was to compose some positive music as an encouragement during difficult times. It starts with a strident statement before turning fairly shortly to a more reflective response from the woodwind. The opening returns and this time the response is broader before it builds to a peak and unleashes the faster music that follows. Several melodic fragments are introduced before a minor key theme is established. The music becomes lighter as it progresses until it reaches the cheerful and melodic trio section. The minor section makes a brief return before being forever banished by the final statement of the affirmative opening music.Duration: 6.45

£78.00A Trombone Family Reunion (Trombone Trio with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Fillmore, Henry - Glover, Andrew
Between 1908 and 1929, Henry Fillmore composed a series of fifteen novelty pieces featuring the trombone section with band. These became collectively known as "The Trombone Family," with names and subtitles connecting them in sort of a musical genealogy. The three most popular family members, "Lassus Trombone," "Miss Trombone," and "Shoutin' Liza Trombone" join together in a whimsical way for "A Trombone Family Reunion," along with some "shirttail relatives" depicted by famous trombone excerpts from the symphonic repertoire. Included are quotations from "Blue Bells Of Scotland," "Symphony No. 4" by Tchaikovsky, "Tannhauser Overture," "Second Hungarian Rhapsody," "Prelude to Act III of Lohengrin," "Hallelujah Chorus," "Ride of the Valkyries," "Turkey In The Straw," and a few other surprises. Great fun! Duration: 3.30

£150.00Three Sisters (Dream Sequence) (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Walton, William - Noble, Paul
Three Sisters is a 1970 British drama film starring Alan Bates, Laurence Olivier and Joan Plowright, based on the 1900 play by Anton Chekhov. Olivier also directed, with co-director John Sichel; it was the final feature film directed by Olivier. The film was based on a 1967 theatre production that Olivier had directed at the Royal National Theatre. William Walton produced the film music using themes by Tchaikovsky, from the official national anthem of the Russian Empire in 1833 - 1917, God save the Tsar!, (the music of which is also included in several hymnals as 'God, the Omnipotent'), and which he featured in his 1812 Overture, to a charming imitation Swan Lake waltz. The original theme for Three Sisters has reappeared as contemporary stage plays and musicals, which are still active today. This short, descriptive arrangement offers an accessible opportunity for bands to experience tuneful music of the period.
