March of the Magical Toys (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Smith, Robert W.
"'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Santa had dropped through the chimney with care, hoping the children would be up the stairs. He placed all the toys round the tree with delight, and wiggled his nose at the stroke of midnight. The toys came alive and marched round and round, singing and dancing to holiday sounds." So begins Robert W. Smith's program notes. Need more be said? March of the Orcs (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wood, Gareth
Startling stuff! Wood paints a vivid picture of Tolkien's grim army of sinister misshapes on the move. Finesse is not called for: go for it and play with aggression - it will really raise your players' confidence levels! AB grade 2.5Duration: 02:30

March of the Marionettes - Charles Gounod
Delightful, jaunty melody is famous as the theme from the Alfred Hitchcock TV show. Andy Balent's masterful, easy setting has great audience appeal as it teaches and reinforces six-eight rhythm patterns.

March of the Kangaroos - Ed Huckeby
Huckeby's travels to serve as a band clinician and judge in Australia inspired this infectious novelty piece for your very youngest players. You will not believe the sounds your kids will make at this grade level! It's extremely playable with a more advanced sound, and it really gives the audience that Australian feel. Very Unique.

Guardians of the Banner - Joseph Compello
A very nice original march from popular composer Joseph Compello, Guardians of the Banner contains many aspects of a traditional American march but with the developing student in mind. It has an extended introduction, a first strain, second strain, and a break strain followed by a return of the first strain to end the march. There is not the typical modulation to a trio section, making this march much more playable for this level of band. The march is at a more moderate march tempo and contains some really nice melodies, making it a great way to introduce this important style to younger students.

Honorary March of Her Majesty Queen Sonja - Svein H. Giske
This march was commissioned by The office of cultural affairs in Fana and Ytrebygda (a part of Bergen Municipality) for the opening of The Bergen Light Rail. The premiere was given by The Norwegian Navy Band Bergen and Smrs skolemusikkduring the light rails maiden voyage. Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway opened the light rail on June 22nd 2010.My ida was to give the march a strong link to Bergen. In the bass solo (letter B) I have quoted Bergens "national"anthem Nystemtn and in the Trio (letter E) I have used a bugle call from Bergens unique tradition of archerchery brigades. The first part of the march is meant to have a sort of train feel to it; somethingthats moving steadily through thestreets of the city.

Children'S March Over The Hills And Far Away - Percy Aldridge Grainger
Percy Grainger's extraordinary scoring skills permeate this classic, carefree work for symphonic band. Children's March: Over the Hills and Far Away, originally a piano solo, was orchestrated by the composer while he was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Artillery Band. It includes two unusual scoring elements for the time - a prominent part for piano (cued in the winds), and brief four-part vocal interludes to be sung by members of the band (or a small chorus ad lib). Grainger believed that the greatest expressivity could be found in the lower instruments of the band (particularly the lower woodwinds), and Children's March includes a liberal and highly specialized use of the bassoons, English horn, bass clarinet and low saxophones. The march was first performed by the renowned Goldman Band in 1919, and was recorded in its original form by the same band with the composer conducting. (Full set includes a vocal score.)
