The Wand of Youth, Suite No.2, March (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Elgar, Edward - Noble, Paul

The Wand of Youth suites were written in 1869 when Elgar was only twelve years old, music written for a play and acted by the Elgar children for a private family theatrical production. He noted the tunes down in a sketchbook and in 1907, forty years later, he rearranged with only minor changes and orchestrated them as the two suites titled The Wand of Youth, Suite Nos. 1 and 2. Although the Wand of Youth Suites date from Elgar's mature years, he insisted on calling it Opus 1, because he wrote these pieces originally for piano many years earlier. The March is the first movement of The Wand of Youth, Suite No. 2. The arranger has presented this movement as an example of an excellent concert opener or warm-up march for a festival or contest performance because of its delicacy, yet determination.

Trans-America March (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Smith, Robert W.

Trans-America March, composed in classic style, is inspired by the westward development of the United States of America. Beginning with a quote from the opening phrase of The Star Spangled Banner, we are taken on a journey westward across the great divide. The first strain ascends melodically to the peak in center of the phrase. The melody then descends to the other side of the great divide representing the journey across the country from sea to shining sea. The trio is based on "America, My Country Tis Of Thee," leading to a rousing conclusion. Perfect for patriotic programming or in any concert/festival setting, "Trans-America March" is a wonderful choice for your next performance. Duration: 2.00

Legacy March (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Hodges, Steve

You'll find yourself humming this catchy march over and over! Beginning with a fanfare in the trumpets, horns, and saxophones, the low brass soon enters followed by the woodwinds playing a countermelody. The march tune is introduced by the trumpets and saxes, then turned over to the winds. The B section brings a quieter mood, followed by a return of the A theme with a brief coda that brings the piece to a grandiose conclusion. A fantastic addition to the march repertoire. Ceremonial March (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Van der Roost, Jan

In the course of the two centuries following the death of Henry Purcell in 1695, no British composer of any statue was apparent. Consequently, the break-through of Edward Elgar (1857-1934) as an internationally known and respected composer at the end of the last century, was of considerable importance. As a composer Elgar was largely self-taught and he looked towards the continent for his inspiration. He is without doubt on par with his contemporaries such as the somewhat younger Richard Strauss. The Belgian composer Jan Van der Roost is a genuine admirer of Elgar's music and on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the composer's death in 1984 he composed the "Ceremonial March". Van der Roost was inspired by the most famous and frequently played works from Elgar's catalogue of works, the characteristic "Pomp and Circumstances" marches, and decided to add his own, sixth march to the existing collection.Duration: 5:30
