Next is a kind of trio with a melody that will linger in your mind. Lively sounds bring us back to the lyrical main theme once more, but this time exuberant, like a pop ballad. Finally, we hear the festive sounds of the introduction again, now as a lustrous conclusion.

This work was commissioned by the Musikverein Prechtal e. V. (Germany) for its 100th anniversary in the year of 2021. The composition opens with a powerful rhythmic motif, which soon develops into the main theme of this brisk overture. The unwavering, joyful melodies and a positive atmosphere give the work a high-spirited energy. The strong pulse has the music firmly in its grasp and only quietens gradually in a pensive middle movement that seems to emanate from another world. This atmospheric passage can evoke dreamy thoughts and a variety of visions. But then the liveliness of the previous motifs returns, to take us back to the vivacious here and now, full of optimism and determination for the hundred years to come. On to a wonderful future!

Franco Cesarini was commissioned to write A Glorious Fanfare by the Band Association of the Zug Canton in Switzerland (Zuger Blasmusikverband), to celebrate the centenary of the Association (1922-2022).The composition is the third in a trilogy of scintillating concert opening pieces (which make up opus 38), together with A Triumphant Fanfare and A Joyful Fanfare. A majestic fanfare entrusted to the trumpets introduces the piece. This short but solemn overture was written on the occasion of the 110th jubilee of Harmonie Hautcharage, Luxembourg. It is an homage to Jean-Paul Frisch and his son Grard (the present conductor), who each have been conducting the ensemble for many years. Under their leadership, the band has developed and improved remarkably. The very first musical theme, presented during the introduction of this little overture, is based on the letters hidden in the names Jean-Paul and Grard Frisch (in which h is considered b - as it is in German), thus aiming the spotlight on both key figures in the history of Harmonie Hautcharage. After the rather stately intro, the allegro is more joyful and lighthearted, thus depicting the optimism of the many young players of the band. The end is exciting and energetic: it radiates positivity and belief in the future.
