Majesty (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Deleruyelle, Thierry
Majesty is a powerful and spectacular overture. Right from the start, the brass open the work brilliantly before making way for a majestic hymn mostly played by the woodwind. The end of the piece repeats the opening fanfare as a monumental finale in the style of an American symphonic march. This work was commissioned by the Bourbourg Wind Orchestra (France), conducted by Claude Deconinck, on the occasion of its 230th anniversary. This piece was premiered by the commissioning orchestra on 19 November 2022, just two months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Naturally, this work is dedicated to her.Duration: 6.15

Big Bass (Flexible Ensemble - Score and Parts) - Rogers, Scott
Every beginning low brass player deserves a big bassline. With a rhythmic focus on quarter- and eighth notes and a range of a fourth, this piece is easily accessible for all beginning low brass players and mastery breeds motivation, and that s something young musicians on trombone, baritone and tuba need. There is also a short chromatic motive that appears at B. This is written to lie well on the slide and valves and can be a good way to teach the important difference between concert E and Eb.Duration: 1.00

A Caribbean Sailing Trip (Flexible Ensemble - Score and Parts) - Schaars, Peter Kleine
With this composition in a rumba style, Peter Kleine Schaars invites us to enjoy a relaxed sailing trip in the waters of the Caribbean. The feeling of freedom on the boat is mirrored by an extensive melody surrounded by a palette of colourful harmonies the shades of the water while the clever percussion sets the course of the ship. Who wouldn't dream of such an adventure? Although the musical themes and accompaniments have been constructed from combinations of rhythmic cells that occur less often, the composition sounds very natural and flowing. Assuming the rhythmic cells 1 to 8 are part of the basic skills of your band, in this composition, the accent rather lies on cells 9 to 13. The instrumentation is created in such a way that these new cells occur in all parts, so that all musicians of the band become familiar with this rhythmic development.Duration: 2.30

Contraption (Concert Band - Score and Parts - McBrien, Brendan
Contraption is a tone poem describing an imaginary machine of great size and power. The word contraption is defined as a device or machine regarded as strange, incomprehensible, or makeshift. This concept has been applied to the construction of this musical composition. The creation of this piece was accomplished in the same way an inventor might build a physical contraption, in this case limited to three main component parts plus an interlude. A very unique and appealing piece!Duration: 3:45

Story of a Village (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Waignein, Andre
This work relates the story of Maasbracht, a town on the banks of the Meuse River in the Dutch province of Limburg. Like all fairy tales, the story begins serenely with ?Once upon a time?? The music evokes the atmosphere of this very pleasant region, where the gentle way of life is the key to happiness. A lively and joyful passage depicts the cheerfulness of the people of Maasbracht. Maasbracht, like many other towns, suffered during World War II: sound colours darken and pictures of destruction run through our mind. In the midst of despair there is hope, from grief comes new life. The future looks promising. The work leaves Maasbracht, looking forward to the 21st century with confidence. A highly descriptive work that is suitable for any concert or contest situation.Duration: 10:00

Fenix Blue - Peter Meechan
Fenix Blue is a solo work for alto saxophone and wind ensemble, commissioned by and written for British saxophonist, Tim Watson.A wild blues inspired opening for unaccompanied saxophone gives way for a slow, dirty blues! More blues elements appear in the following slow funk section, driven by the percussion section and drum kit.Slow reflective music follows before a return to the slow funk - this time with plenty of the original blues music interjected around the band and from the soloist, leading to a loud conclusion! The title makes reference to the large blues influence in the piece, but the Fenix referred to in the title is a dedication to the Phoenix 2 capsule that rescued the 33 Chilean minors who were trapped underground for 69 days last year, the last of whom was brought to the surface in the capsule as I was finishing this piece.

Judgement Day - Peter Knockaert
The last decades we humans have witnessed a significant number of disturbing developments. If we look at the direct and persistent destructive influence of humans on nature: air and water quality are reducing, soils are depleting, crops are short of pollinators, coasts are less protected from storms, deforestation, the degradation of land, loss of biodiversity and pollution. In stark contrast we find the intelligence and boundless creativity of humans: what about all the high technological advancements? What lies ahead in the realm of Artificial Intelligence? Will we let machines make human decisions? What ethical issues arise there? This composition reflects the desperation and urgency of the human need for action. The music draws inspiration from the brutal natural forces that ravage our world as a direct consequence of human failure and selfishness. Are we heading towards a 'Judgment Day'? Or will humanity find a way to reverse negative trends towards a more livable, peaceful, and joyful environment for humans, animals, and nature? To underscore this message, composer Peter Knockaert opted for a highly classical idiom that has been used by many composers in classical music: the 'Dies Irae'. Traditionally, the Dies Irae is the third part of a requiem (funeral mass). The text used in 'Judgment Day' (for optional choir) is coming from the original Latin text.
