£84.99A Gospel Christmas - Stephen Bulla
You've got to love it when Stephen Bulla goes Gospel! Your musicians surely will! The slow introductory section sets up the audience for a rousing good time when the band suddenly lets rip with hand-clapping up-tempo Gospel sounds. Rhythmic and filled with amazingly creative harmonic ideas, this superb arrangement takes O Come Emmanuel, Adeste Fidelis, and Handel's Hallelujah Chorus places that you probably never imagined they could go. Conductors seeking high-quality new and entertaining literature for the Christmas concert have come to the right place. Definitely NOT the "same old" Christmas arrangement!

Finnish Folk Song Suite - Jan Van der Roost
In this moderately easy suite, Jan Van der Roost uses four authentic folk tunes from the Swedish-speaking part of Finland. These are from Nagu, Oravais, Lappfjrd and Karlebynejden, and have been joined together without pauses to form a continuous suite. The work begins with noble, almost meditative melodies. Gradually the tempo becomes faster, resulting in a brilliant and cheerful folk dance. The melody regularly goes from one band section to another ensuring that the timbre remains varied and there is no question of monotony. This is an attractive suite which is within the range of the majority of concert bands.

£40.00Not So Silent Night - Anonymous
Using the basic melodic shape of Silent Night, Sean O'Loughlin has written a lively piece that goes in a quite different, more up-to-date direction than the familiar, refl ective Carol. The noise makers of the percussion section are given a lively role to play, and the introduction, by the low brass, of God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, in the middle of the piece, creates a somewhat ironic twist in this amusing re-imagining of a classic carol.

£143.00Downtown Divertimento (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Meij, Johan
The inspiration for Downtown Divertimento comes from Johan de Meijs daily wanderings in Chelsea, in lower Manhattan. The day begins with a leisurely walk to Madison Square Park with his dog Alice. They visit the dog run where she meets up withother city canines. On the way back they have a moment of reflection looking at the nearby Flatiron Building, the striking triangular city landmark. Johan goes for a run later in the day. His jogging shoes naturally head for The Highline, anabandoned railway viaduct that was transformed into a lushly landscaped National Park. He absorbs the spectacular views of the Hudson River and the majestic New York skyline as if seeing them for the first time. The movements are: 1) Dog Play (at Madison Square Park); 2) Flatiron Reverie; 3) Hitting the Highline. Duration: 11.00

£104.99Call of the Valley (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - De Haan, Jacob
The inspiration for this three-part work goes back to the International European Youth Wind Music Festival, of which the patron has been Jacob de Haan several times. It begins in a festive march tempo, then sacred music, instrumental groups playing off stage and a little march for brass and flutes. The third movement is a parade in which the various sections of the ensemble head towards the stage from different directions. Even without the effective choreography of the musicians, Call of the Valley is an impressive concert band composition.Duration: 5:15

£39.95What the Heart Knows (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
Lyrical and expressive, with a wide range of emotional power, What the Heart Knows is an extended song-form. Wiffin allowed himself to indulge in the traditional tonality of English composers in the Twentieth Century which, although much disapproved of by critics, retains its appeal and never really goes away. There is some 'white-note' dissonance but the music largely uses the emotional range inherent in tonality.Duration: 6.30

Klezmer is the traditional instrumental music for weddings and parties of the Yiddish speaking Jews of Eastern Europe. Its origin goes back to the sixteenth century. At this time Yiddish culture was at its peak in the countries where the Jews then lived: Poland, Ukraine, Byelorussia (White Russia), Latvia, Lithuania, Moldavia, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary.
