Harrison's Dream - Peter Graham
"Harrison's Dream" is a musical depiction of the forty-year effort by John Harrison during the first half of the 18th century to develop a chronometer capable of providing exact time on the high seas. His obsession was a result of the passing of the Longitude Act following the accidental destruction of the Association, the flagship of the British Royal Navy, along with three sister ships in 1707 on rocks off the Scilly Islands. This highly rhythmic and technical composition was commissioned by the United States Air Force Band, Col. Lowell Graham, Commander/Conductor, and has been awarded the 2002 ABA/Ostwald Award for Original Composition. Graham is Associate Conductor of England's Black Dyke Brass Band. Recorded by the United States Air Force Band and the North Texas Wind Ensemble (Klavier).

A Starry Night - Score and Parts - Joy Webb
Program NotesJoy Webb's A Starry Night was originally a huge success for The Salvation Army's 1960s pop phenomenon "The Joystrings." The breadth of the song's popularity continues to be a source of amazement to the writer herself, but the attractive simplicity and accessibility of the tune has made it one of the most widely used Christmas songs, particularly in schools and playgroups!Andrew Mackereth, who is the Bandmaster of the Salvation Army band at Nuneaton in Warwickshire and also conductor, composer and arranger for The Salvation Army Symphonic Wind Ensemble, has brought his considerable skills as an arranger and composer for both brand and concert band to this familiar Christmas song and produced an attractive dance-like Calypso-style setting that is already gaining huge popularity in its brass band form. This arrangement for concert band is sure to contribute to the ongoing popularity of this song, and will undoubtedly enhance any concert band's Christmas programme too.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - Ennio Morricone - Ray Farr
This humourous theatrical arrangement takes a satirical look at the many "spaghetti" Westerns. Ennio Morricone's immortal theme is the basis for a "shoot-out" between "Clint Eastwood" and a "Mexican Bandit", but (un)fortuantely the conductor gets caught in the crossfire! A...

Forgotten Children - Peter Meechan
Forgotten Children is a short work for wind orchestra and electronic accompaniment. Adapted from it's original form (for brass quartet and CD, Forgotten Children was written for The Desert Winds and their conductor Chuck Maguire, to whom the piece is dedicated.Whilst conceiving the piece, the subject of the war in Syria dominated news headlines, specifically the refusal by Western nations to intervene. There were, of course, political reasons at the heart of the decision, complicated by a situation that no one understood in a country no one understands. The harrowing images of chemical weapons being used on children was seemingly not enough to persuade the West that their help was needed, but those silent voices fell on even deafer ears. They were, and still are, the Forgotten Children. Please download the electronic accompaniment below.

Perpetua - Peter Meechan
When I write music I feel a need to comment on the world around us - which, right now, is not always a happy society. But I also want to write music about the world I want to live in - about the joy, beauty, hope, and love I see in our communities. In writing Perpetua I wanted to compose a piece of perpetual motion, that is challenging, exciting, and fun - all brought together through a sense of joy.Perpetua was commissioned by Foothills Concert Band (Calgary, AB, Canada) and their conductor Anthony Reimer.
