Maintaining the deli?cate balance between their trinity - nature, man, and creation - is an important factor for bliss and happiness.Primeval Sound and Dreamtime The tens of thousands-year-old stories from the era called Dreamtime - the Aborigines' creation myth - play an important role in not only their be?liefs, but their everyday lives and laws as well. Ancestral worship and various other rituals and ceremonies are still held in high regard to this very day.Running HunterThe Aborigines are extremely skilful hunters and are able to run for extended periods of time when chasing their prey. Hunting weapons, such as the boomerang, exemplify their abilities.Uluru (Red Rock)Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, is a natural sandstone "inselberg" rising 348m above Australia's plains, and is one of the country's most recognisable icons. Uluru is also a sacred place for the local Aborigines. Its history stretches back to Dreamtime, although it did not exist in its current state at that time.Encounter with the White MenUnfortunately, the "White Men" did not realize the significance and importance of the Aborigines and their culture until the end of the 20th century. Before then, they were unaware that the Aborigines were quite possibly one of the oldest known cultures on earth, with a seamless history stretching back to creation itself; Dreamtime. BushfireFire has been present on the Australian continent for millions of years. Many of the indigenous flora and fauna have needed to adapt to fire, and evolution has led to unique solutions for survival. £174.99The Graces of Love - Oliver Waespi
"The Graces of Love" (Le Gratie d'Amore) is the title of a book published in 1602 by Cesare Negri, the famous dance master of the Milanese court in the Renaissance. It contains numerous dance tunes and precise descriptions of courtly dances. It also includes the tune 'Il bianco fior' (The White Flower) on which the first movement of Oliver Waespi's piece is based. A vigorous dance in three-four, it leads to an acceleration and a sudden shift to an even meter towards the end. The second movement, calm and contemplative in character, features the tune 'Vaghe bellezze ...' (Veiled Beauty ...). Widely spaced melodic parts surround two solos during which the tune is varied anddeveloped. Finally, the third movement contains a Saltarello based on a tune by Vincenzo Galilei, the father of the famous astronomer, Galileo Galilei. It brings the work to a close with a hypnotic rhythm which is noble and virtuosic at the same time.

Commissioned for the Wisconsin Lutheran High School's centennial year, this expansive work incorporates the Welsh folk song The Ash Grove in a lush and varied treatment. The main melody, played first by horns and baritone, returns near the end in a glorious, fully orchestrated chorale. In between is a beautiful secondary theme played by oboe and flute soloists followed by a dramatic fugal section. A musically rewarding and effective piece. (6:00)

This work was commissioned by the Lampasas High School Band, Lampasas, Texas, Richard Hooper, Director, in memory of their classmate and friend, Chris Cruz, and his father and sister. Chris was a saxophone player, Eagle Scout and junior in high school. He was a much-loved member of the high school band and this work was commissioned in honor and memory of him. The title refers to Chris favorite time of the year: the end of summer, band camp, the start of school, the start of fall, football games, band competitions and all the other fun times that come along for high school band students "as the days become shorter." Energetic and driving, much like the life that Chris lived, this work is meant to be a celebration of his life and spirit.

Letters from the Battlefield was commissioned by the Land of Grant Honor Band to commemorate the end of the American Civil War. The collected letters of U.S. Grant reveal much information about the thoughts and emotions he was experiencing around the events of the Civil War. Some of the letters are tenderhearted, written in moments of sentimental passion; others are very clear and emphatic statements that he will do whatever it takes to bring the war to a close. The many moods and emotions expressed in his correspondence are reflected in the various sections of this powerful and moving work. An outstanding concert work, it is also appropriate for Civil War or patriotic commemorative ceremonies.

£72.99The Girl with the Flaxen Hair - Claude Debussy
Impressionist composer Claude Debussy wrote his set of Prludes for the piano between 1909 and 1913. In their entirety, his Prludes total 24 individual pieces in two volumes. It is from these that Karel Deseure has selected fivepreludes for his Cinq Prludes. La fille aux cheveux de lin is probably the most well-known of the five (and Debussy's 24).Deseure approached each prelude as being musically independent of the others. Consequently, they do not have to be played in a specific order or even as a complete set. It is worth noting that in Debussy's original edition the titles wereprinted at the end each prelude, almost like a footnote, so the performer could look at themusic without being influenced by Debussy's descriptive titles. The Prludes also demonstrate Debussy's superb orchestration skills. Deseure took great care orchestrating these five preludes so he could capture and convey their original character and mood as accurately as possible. The original key signatures were kept and only very minute changes were made to the pitchesthemselves, such as occasional octave doublings to fill out the ensemble.

Angels and demons are just two of the mythical creatures that appear in Marc Cunningham's imaginative three-part composition for concert band. The 'good' are always shown in opposition to the 'evil' in this work. Musically, this con_x005F_x001D_flict is expressed as diatonic versus chromatic, consonance versus dissonance, and darker sounds opposed to lighter-sounding sections. Which is victorious at the end of the piece? You might be in for a surprise...

£57.50Prelude And Pursuit - Michael Sweeney
John Barnes Chance composed his landmark work for band, Incantation and Dance, in 1960 while in residence at the high school in Greensboro, North Carolina. Commissioned by the Union County (NC) Honor Band, Prelude and Pursuit paystribute to this important composition and its North Carolina connection. A haunting chant-like theme played by the clarinets sets the tone for the slow section. Similar to Chance's work, the fast section begins with percussioninstruments introducing thematic elements later picked up and developed by the winds. Intensifying rhythmic elements, as well as carefully controlled random playing effects, contribute to an overall sense of excitement andanticipation. Themes are woven throughout various sections of the band before the opening chant motif makes a brief dramatic appearance near the end. A great teaching tool for young players, Prelude and Pursuit also provides arewarding performance experience. Dur: 4:50
