£59.95Where Eagles Sing (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Lovatt-Cooper, Paul
The inspiration for this piece came when the composer visited Florida and the Bird Sanctuary in Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom. He was in the audience to see the rare bird show where he witnessed some fabulous looking and endangered birds that were trained to perform different tricks that wowed the audience. The highlight for him was the conclusion of the show where the most awesome sight greeted us as an American Bald Eagle soared over the audience. That particular breed of Eagle has been a very rare bird of late. With so few in numbers, it nearly became a member of the sad group of animals that are extinct. The host of the show took great delight in informing the audience that the fantastic creature is now officially safe and no longer classed as endangered. This made a great impact on the composer as the Eagle is an amazing bird, huge in size and power and yet so graceful in flight. This piece is everything associated with the Eagle; bold, powerful and graceful and now free to soar and sing in the American homelands.Where Eagles Sing has been hugely successful as a curtain-raiser (or finale) with brass bands around the world and it is hoped that this version for concert band will be just as popular.Duration: 4.00

£47.95Meadowlands (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - MacBeth, James
There is often a raw and barbaric vigor in the sound of Russian folk music. In this characteristic tune, the minor mode coupled with a driving rhythmic beat may conjure various images, perhaps one of wild horses, rattling sabers and frozen tundra. In this imaginative setting the melody is first heard from afar, the snare drum and low register clarinets being barely audible. The riders gradually emerge as the music mounts in loudness and fury. Then, the climax having passed, men and horses slowly diminish into the distance until the mind's eye sees only a silent wasteland of white and the ear hears only the falling snow.

Keep the Faith - Score and Parts - Duncan Stubbs
Program NotesKeep the Faith originally started as a personal tribute to my late mother. Not long after writing the opening ideas I was approached to write music to accompany a rendition of the poem "We Will Keep the Faith" by Moina Michael for performance as part of the 100th Anniversary of the start og World War I. The appropriateness of the music already written and the sentiment behind both concepts was a coincidence too good to overlook. Rarely sentimental and always practical I feel sure my mum would be delighted that the music she originally inspired was being used to portray a much wider universal message of remembrance.Whether performed with or without the poem a fully sustained sound should always be aimed for. The 'bugle' call at bar 20 and again at bar 76 should reflect a distant call across the trenches, the cornet remaining prominent over the upper woodwind. The tempo indication is a guide only and allowance must be made for the acoustic in which the piece is performed. The music must always flow, but appropriate rubato should be freely used together with appropriate tenuto in the middle of phrases.- Duncan Stubbs

Lakeside Drawings - Score and Parts - Richard Phillips
Program NotesOnce a year, my wife and I like to visit the beautiful Lake District in the northwestern sector of England in the county of Cumbria. It has been a place of much inspiration for many composers over the years and when amidst the rolling countryside, the lofty mountain peaks, it is no wonder. Lakeside Drawings was started when I visited the Lakes and seeks to reflect the contours of the many mountain peaks through the sometimes soaring melodic lines of the composition. It is a piece based on tunes reflecting the aspect and also of the mindset of the many walkers who have scaled the mountains to achieve an ambition of reaching a summit. Once reached, a glorious view is a prize worth every hour of tiring ascent.-Richard Phillips

Shenandoah - Score and Parts - Leonard Ballantine
Program NotesCanadian Salvation Army officer Leonard Ballantine is a gifted and talented musician with a wonderful talent for composing and arranging for both instrumental and vocal ensembles.Among the many compositions he has written is this beautiful arrangement of the American folk song Shenandoah. It was originally conceived as a brass band arrangement and published in 1998. It has also appeared as a vocal setting, but has now been faithfully transcribed for wind band by Brian Bowen and we are all sure that this will prove to be a popular addition to the repertoire.

The Call of the Righteous - Score and Parts - Leslie Condon
Program NotesCall of the Righteous is a tone poem that uses the Gospel song melody "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder" as its main theme. An unforgiving opening unison trumpet fanfare leads into the first statement of the tune, which then appears, either in its entirety or in fragments, throughout the piece alongside further thematic material derived from the opening fanfare theme. The reflective central section contains a beautiful original melody, introduced by the clarinet and developed elsewhere, before the music reverts to ideas derived from the opening section, introduced by a recapitulation of the opening fanfare figure, which is further developed to bring the music to a thrilling and dramatic conclusion.Although the music has its creative roots in religious doctrine, it has a lasting and popular appeal that makes it accessible and listenable at every level, with plenty to challenge on both technical and musical levels.

The Red Shield - Score and Parts - Henry Goffin
Program NotesPossibly one of The Salvation Army's most popular marches, both as a street march and a concert item, The Red Shield was written to acknowledge The Salvation Army's work with Her Majesty's Armed Forces. Red Shield Clubs have for many years been an integral part of service life, both in the UK and abroad. This is a superbly crafted march that contains all the essential ingredients one expects from the genre. Although the thematic material will be largely unfamiliar, it has real energy and character and will surely prove to be as popular in this wind band version as it continues to be in its original band form.
