Sails (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Gassi, Vince
You'll feel the wind at your back as this bright march weighs anchor with a bold opening and sets sail with flutes and oboes stating the main theme. Sails unfurl and the rest of the fleet (ensemble) joins in. Counter-lines and flourishes are added. Eventually the seas calm during a passage through a slower lyrical section where the opening thematic material is developed. But wait, there is land in sight! A new key is stated, and all return safely to port.Duration: 3.00

...And Goodnight (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bernotas, Chris M.
...And Goodnight is a grade 2 lyrical piece that would be a beautiful addition to any school music library. It was inspired by a Brahms lullaby; hints of it are heard throughout the piece and within the original melody. Ranges and rhythmic difficulties are modest which will allow for ample time in teaching the valuable musical concepts of phrasing, tuning, balance, dynamics, and most of all, expression.Duration: 2.45

Momentum (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Bernotas, Chris M.
This piece begins with a strong percussion statement and a joyous celebratory feel. The pulse is driving and the excitement is evident with syncopation, powerful brass, and impressive technical lines that all lead to many highs and lows before making way to a reflective section. The slower section features several soloists to create a change in mood. "Momentum" is always moving forward with many exciting challenges for all players and embodies a sense of pride, accomplishment, and celebration.Duration: 6:15

Runway Five (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Karrick, Brant
This piece pays homage to the tenacity of the human spirit and mankind's achievements of flight and space exploration. With main themes presented in minor keys, the asymmetric and odd meters, especially the 5/4, intend to give thrust and momentum to the music. The many changing meters of the piece are intended to give the listener a similar feeling that a pilot has while attempting to control an aircraft during a turbulent and bumpy flight.Duration: 6:00

Angels' Carol (Concert Band with Optional Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul
The music was adapted and arranged by Lowell Mason in 1839 from an older melody which was then believed to have originated from Handel, not least because the theme of the refrain (And heaven and nature sing...) appears in the orchestra opening and accompaniment of the recitative Comfort Ye from Handel's Messiah, and the first four notes match the beginning of the choruses Lift up your heads and Glory to God from the same oratorio. However, Handel did not compose the entire tune. As of the late 20th century, Joy to the World was the most-published Christmas hymn in North America.

Blue and Orange (Flute Solo with Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob
A song and dance for flute with wind band accompaniment. Blue is a gentle, tuneful solo. The accompaniment is very much in a chamber-music style and there are very few places where the whole ensemble plays at the same time. There is nothing overt or dramatic in the music and subtlety and rubato are very much the required manner. It is not a desperately sad piece but is just tinged with a little melancholy. Orange on the other hand is a fiery, driving dance which gives the soloist a chance to display technical prowess. During the outer sections Latin percussion carries the music along but the inner sections are more dissonant and are built on inner rhythm. The two pieces are as contrasting as possible, just like the colours of the title.Duration: 3.15 & 4.15

Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Williams, Vaughan - Noble, Paul
Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus is a Concert Band arrangement from the original work for string orchestra and harp by Ralph Vaughan Williams. The composition is based on the folk tune Dives and Lazarus, one of the folk songs quoted in Vaughan Williams' English Folk Song Suite. The ancient theme on which these variations are based goes back to the sixteenth century, and is known by various titles. Dives and Lazarus is a story told by Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. It tells of an unnamed rich man and a poor beggar named Lazarus. In the Latin Bible, the unnamed rich man is referred to as Dives from dives, the Latin word for rich. This work, based on the tune that Vaughan Williams had loved all his life, which came from the very soil of England, ageless and anonymous, was played at the composer's funeral service in Westminster Abbey on 19th September 1958.

Prelude and Fugue in C Minor (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Williams, Vaughan - Noble, Paul
Written in 1920-21, the Prelude and Fugue in C Minor was published in 1930, appearing both as an orchestral work and as an organ piece. The ritornello-form first movement calls to mind the Prelude and Fugue in C minor, BWV546 of J S Bach. The fugue is in A-B-A form and based on a subject whose pentatonic outline seems like an augury of gentle pastoralism; but both movements display a gritty, truculent brand of counterpoint that anticipates the dissonance and fury of Vaughan Williams's Symphony No 4 in F minor, the composition of which spanned the years 1931-4. (from notes by Relf Clark, 2009). The power and drama of this piece is captured in this faithful arrangement for Concert Band.
