The Black River Overture was commissioned by the music society Pfarrkapelle Schwarzenbach, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. Schwarzenbach literally means "black brook" - hence the title of the work. This light-hearted piece is a compliment to all music societies and wind bands that have continued despite alternative, modern leisure-time activities in villages; as such, they are able to offer a wonderful and meaningful occupation to both the young and young-at-heart: namely, making music! These societies are the basis for all cultural work, making life rich and colourful.

Sir Eu was commissioned by the regional music authority of Upper Austria and the brass band SoundINNBrass. The composition was meant to be very virtuoso and was written for the euphonium player Steven Mead, who premired it and has played it regularly worldwide. The title Sir Eu alludes to the master of the euphonium himself, and also to the concept of Europe. From jazz through romanticism to folkloristic elements - this work offers everything that the musical heart could wish for!

The work Forevermore was commissioned for a wedding; it describes the themes of friendship, partnership, and loyalty. One of the most beautiful things in life is going through it together and maintaining the bond of love forever. This solemn work opens with warm woodwind sounds and a soft percussion accompaniment, followed by a build-up to a colourful tutti passage. After a gentle middle section, a grand tutti sound develops again, but the work finally ends in an almost intimate atmosphere.

This short concert piece with a minimalist character, describes human footsteps that can be heard from an adjacent room and seem to increase in number. The anonymous acoustic observation conveys images of strange people in an increasingly hectic scene. The short middle section reveals a sudden silence and gives rise to a feeling of loneliness. But soon the footsteps from the beginning can be heard again and the anonymous hustle and bustle starts anew.
