Like a dark veil, an ominous sense of foreboding takes hold across the world. A looming danger, one previously unknown to mankind, slowly approaches, bringing our daily lives to a grinding halt. A perilous virus gives us no choice other than to stay in our homes, leaving us unable to work in our offices or even visit family and friends. Something that has only been talked about in history books is coming to pass: a pandemic! The invisible danger expands more and more, and we feel paralysed by fear and fright. The distance between us and our fellow human beings increases. At the same time, we start to better understand something crucial: we have time again! People help each other out. Neighbourly assistance and support within one's own family becomes more apparent. We stand by each other. Suddenly we have the time for things that we did not have before. Time for reflection... A new era commences. Finally, hope reappears. We leave our houses, but nothing is quite the same anymore. With renewed strength, people begin to perceive the future in a positive and optimistic way once again. Symphony No.3. All men are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and are to meet one another in a spirit of brotherhood. This article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights forms the basic idea behind this majestic Symphony of Freedom. In each of the three movements, the composer picks another angle on this universal theme of freedom. In the first movement, Cry for Freedom, it's the Dalai Lama of which the composer is a great admirer. The second movement, Dream of Freedom, takes the photograph of the deceased three-year-old refugee boy Ailan Kurdi on the beach at Bodrum as a basis. The finale, Freedom Above All, refers, besides a Bruckner quote, to the music of Ludwig van Beethoven. This movement should be seen first and foremost as an affirmation of life, faith and hope for a better world.Duration: 25.00

The title praises the importance of an education emphasising freedom, responsibility and getting to know and accepting one's limitations in order to become a well-educated and good-hearted citizen. During the piece, the composer refers to aspects of a typical school-age experience, such as friendship, disappointments, challenges, values and goals. The point is that education gives us all Wings to fly. This is a noble piece, full of variety, with nice sections for all instrumental groups.Duration: 7.15

100 Years of the Republic of Austria should be an occasion to reflect on the value of freedom and democracy, precious treasures that don't grow on trees but which have to be fought for again and again. The imperial anthem composed by Franz Josef Haydn, which to this day, survives as the German national anthem, has played a very special role in the story of Austria. It seems that Haydn was inspired by a Croatian folksong. It was sung in Burgenland Croatian areas in various versions under the title Atal se jesem (I am standing). The composer wrote this piece as a tribute to all people standing up for democracy in the name of mankind. A festive and impressive piece for celebrational events alike! Duration: 6.45

He is said to have been a poor priest who healed a blind girl, and gave flowers from his garden to those who sought help and comfort. Saint Valentine's day has been celebrated in February each year since the 14th century as a day devoted to love. This work is written in the style of a chorale and has a light touch of romance!
