Kennesaw Mountain Celebration

Commissioned by and dedicated to Kennesaw Mountain High School, Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia, this exciting concert overture will be a sure hit with your students. The intense opening moments immediately lead us to a brassy fanfare interlude. A secondary rhythmic dialogue between brass and woodwinds punctuates a flowing main theme. The slower middle section is a gracefully simple melody that offers a flowing contrast to the rhythmic intensity of the faster outer sections. Reminiscent of this composer's earlier composition "Fire Dance," "Kennesaw Mountain Celebration" is certain to be one of your student's favorites.

Kentucky 1800 (Flexible Ensemble - Score and Parts) - Grundman, Clare - Longfield, Robert

Originally published in 1955, Clare Grundman's masterful setting of early American folk tunes remains a young band staple for contest and festival. Skilfully adapted here for flexible instrumentation, this classic work is now playable by a wide variety of mixed and smaller ensembles.

Based on three American folk songs (The Promised Land, Cindy and I'm Sad and I'm Lonely) it works just well for programming on lighter concerts as it does for contests and festivals. Kentucky Sunrise

A great new edition of Karl L. King's classic circus piece with a happy ragtime beat. Originally written to accompany a "trick horse" act with the Barnum & Bailey's Circus, the tune soon became so popular that it was used for a wide variety of acts including clown "walk-a-bouts". Bob Foster's arrangement retains all of the color and excitement of the original while making it playable with the modern concert band instrumentation. It's not easy, but it sure is fun!
