The 1958 Welsh Dances of Alun Hoddinott are short, pithy and laced with zest. The second in particular is a charmer, especially zesty, and its scoring is deftly apposite for its purpose, the Arnoldian tinges quite clear. It is also well-suited for Concert Band performance with so much colour that one scarcely misses the strings. This set of dances will be an important addition to the repertoire of Symphonic Bands and Wind Ensembles.

FOUR WINDS, The (EB Marks Concert Band) - Hause, Evan

The Four Winds is an homage by the composer to some of the well-known?band composers, such as Clifton Williams and John Barnes Chance, as well as earlier wind masters like Holst and Mahler. Evan Hause?was a student of William Bolcom, and his more advanced band work, Tango Variations, has been performed and recorded by some of the?top university ensembles. This fantasy-overture is appropriate for the?intermediate high school band, contrasting brisk fanfare music with?variations on a Romantic theme. Duration: 6:00

A very spirited and exciting concert march that is perfect for contest or concert performances. Challenging, yet playable by most mid-level bands, the crisp scoring and solid rhythms make this classy march a great teaching tool as well as an attractive performance selection. Also an effective choice for smaller high school bands as it contains only 2 Clarinet, 2 Trumpet and 2 Trombone parts. VERY IMPRESSIVE!

Fra Diavolo Wind Band Set (Score & Parts)

The French composer Daniel Fran?ois Esprit Auber (1782-1871) witnessed many important developments in the history of music ? from Luigi Cherubini to Richard Wagner. His extensive output consisted mainly of operas, but unfortunately today only two of these are still well known, including the comic opera Fra Diavolo. The story concerns Fra Diavolo, a famous Italian bandit and soldier from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and is one of crime, lust and treachery. The overture has a classical structure and is filled with striking themes and motifs and has a particularly unusual introduction (for the time) with the snare drum taking the leading role! 0:08:22
