Birthday Honours was premiered in 2007 to celebrate the 70th birthday of British composer Guy Woolfenden. It makes a perfect piece to mark any anniversary or as a surprise on someone's actual birthday. The trio section of this march quotes the familiar tune, Happy Birthday, before melody, counter-melody and the initial theme all combine to create an extravagant musical celebration. The opening introduction forms a swift and conclusive coda at which point it is time to blow out the candles and serve up the cake!

Birthday Madrigals (Concert Band with opt. Choir - Score and Parts) - Rutter, John - Noble, Paul

Birthday Madrigals was written in 1995 to celebrate the seventy-fifth birthday of the great jazz pianist, George Shearing. This arrangement is written for combined band and choir, but may be performed by band alone. In honour of George Shearing's noted style, a vibes part has been added to this arrangement, as well as an optional piano part. The original setting was a suite of five movements. The arranger has chosen three of the movements, numbers 1, 3 and 5, because of their similarity in style. This is a special opportunity for Concert Bands, or combined Concert Bands and Choirs, to perform in a true jazz medium, featuring a set drummer and string bass along with the full band.

The piece can be played by a school band even if piccolo, Eb clarinet, baritone saxophone and horns 3 and 4 are unavailable. 'Birthday Treat is light music scored very cleverly for the middle school band, with quirky rhythms and the odd harmonic or rhythmic twist and plenty to retain the interest of players and audience'

Bisham Grange Overture (Concert Band - Score and Parts)

A brilliant fanfare for full band leads to an interesting melody in the Bristish folksong style. Constantaly shifting harmonies add color and interest. Solos for trumpet and flute are brief and not technically demanding. Very nice!

The song Bist du bei mir, geh' ich mit Freuden zum Sterben und zu meiner Ruh' (BWV 508) was composed by Johann Sebastian Bach for his second wife Anna Magdalena (1701-1760), who he married in 1721.The popularity of this song is probably due to the magnificent, sensitive melody that fits wonderfully with the text, in which a loved one is told that even death is beautiful "as long as you are there with me." This beautiful arrangement by Jacob de Haan is suitable for use in any concert.Duration: 3:00

Bite the Bullet (Concert Band - Score and Parts) - Machain, Jorge

Bite the Bullet by Mexican-American composer Jorge Machain was named 2019-2020 winner of acclaimed The American Prize for music, in addition to being a finalist in the 2018 NBA Revelli competition. The work was inspired by a painting by Venetian artist, Carlo Marchiori, which depicts two Pulcinelli (Venetian clowns) engaged in a gun battle. As the bullets meet in the middle of the scene, a colorful and vibrant cloudburst is created. Using a unique sonic colour scheme, the brass and percussion portray the gunshots, while the woodwind flourishes emulate the painter's vibrant brush strokes. Duration: 7.00
