Lafourche Parish (pronounced "LaFoosh") was commissioned by the East Thibodeaux Jr. High School Band. A stirring grade 3 work suitable for festival or contest performance, it is designed to provide young bands with an exciting, contemporary work that is very playable.

Laguna di Grado - Jacob de Haan

Picture yourself in the marvellous paradise of Italy's Grado Lagoon. The magnificent display of colour and the salty scent of sea air combine with the fragrant tamarisk to create a unique atmosphere. In this glorious haven time stands still - except for the flight of the seagulls and the slow flood tide. From a distance you hear an adagio coming through the air from a procession of boats. Its solemn tones dissipate into the landscape of the lagoon.

Lake of the Moon - Kevin Houben

The travels of the Aztec people as they headed south through North America looking for a new home, acted as the inspiration for Lake of the Moon. The composition contains small fragments of Oriental music and South American rhythms andoccasionally, Russian Cossacks seem to raise their heads. The journey from North to South is not without danger, which is represented by threatening sounds within the music. In the Adagio divoto the composer takes us along to the Texcoco Lake,which the Aztecs called the lake of the moon. Bring a little bit of South American history to your concert with Lake of the Moon.

Lake Valley Festival - David Gorham

An outstanding example of suburb concert band literature! The majestic and noble opening leads the way to the main body of the work where the full expanse of the creative writing is displayed. The melodic lines are highlighted with occasional mixed meters as well as creative percussion writing. All these elements combine to make a first-rate concert selection that is accessible to a wide range of bands.
