From Both Sides Now - Joni Mitchell

"From Both Sides Now", written in 1967, is one of the most famous songs by Canadian singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell. A novel by Saul Bellow, "Henderson the Rain King", was her inspiration to write the song. She has recorded the song twice: first in 1969 on the album "Clouds" and again in 2000 on the album "Both Sides Now". The latest recording feature a more orchestrated, jazz-inspired version of the song. This arrangement is written in "quasi-tango" style. There are three solo-options included: Bb-Inatruments, Eb-Instruments and C-Instruments (Bass Clef).

In the course of a short flight, the composer was able to get a birds-eye view of the landscape in which the sun's rays, glistening on the snow and ice, transformed the scenery into crystal. John Philip Sousa is well known throughout the world for his successes with the Sousa Band, and for writing the most popular marches ever written. Some of his marches actually were created from music originally written for an operetta, From Maine to Oregon, based on musical themes from Sousas operetta, The Glass Blower, which was renamed The American Maid. This new edition is created from the original parts as played by the Sousa Band performing under the direction of "The March King" himself.
