This flashing piece was commissioned by 'Het muziekverbond van West-Vlaanderen' and is dedicated to the 'Arlequino' youthband.Colourfully and effectfully instrumentated, this piece speeds towards its finale without any tempo changes. The chord-blocks, which characterized the introduction, unite this virtuoso piece by reappearing in the end.

A flashover is the simultaneous ignition of all combustible objects in an enclosed area- the most well known type being the backdraft. With multiple meter changes, the strong scoring and supportive percussion create an incendiary and explosive element of musical turbulence that burns brightly from start to finish.

This highly energetic work for beginner and developing bands captures the explosive nature of a flash point, the temperature at which combustible vapors ignite when exposed to flame.
