S'Vivon - Andrew Yozviak

"S'vivon" is a popular Hanukah song. The word means "dreidel" (a spinning top) and this celebratory song reminds us of the traditions of the holiday. They rhythm involves easy eighth/quarter note/eighth note syncopation. It is an easy song to play. Clarinets do not cross the break. 1st Trumpet's highest note is C.

Safety - Harold Bennett

Safety is yet another delightful little march from Henry Fillmore written under the pseudonym of Harold Bennett. Larry Clark has breathed new life into 18 of these excellent young band marches already and he continues this year with a tuneful one in 6/8 time. This is an important time signature in the march form and will prepare young students for more advanced 6/8 marches by Fillmore, Sousa and others.

Sahara

Sahara is an exciting programmatic work for concert band that paints a musical picture of a fantastical desert crossing over three contrasting sections. The first of these depicts a large caravan moving across the giant dunes, the second a visit to a palace in a mystical oasis city, and the third a sandstorm that the caravan must outrun to reach its final destination, bringing the piece to an epic close.

Salute to the Armed Services - Crawford

This updated medley honors the branches of the U.S. military with a collection of service songs, including the recently added Semper Supra for the U.S. Space Force. This arrangement features fuller scoring and increased technical demands while delivering a ceremonial character for each service song, with percussion-only interludes that allow customized song order if necessary. This work provides an ideal opportunity to honor veterans and their families in concert.

Samba Time!

Samba Time delivers something wonderful for the youngest of students. Composer James Meredith has found a way to use very limited technical demands to teach the style of a Samba. If students are engaged as beginners and enjoy what they do, they will be inspired to continue on their instruments. This piece will do just that and will be fun for them and their parents at their very first concert
