Bobber in the old Scots language is the word for a dance. The piece is an original composition for developing bands in a Scottish style. It cantains all of the typically Larry Clark compositional techniques that you have come to know and your students have come to love.

Scrimshaw Tales

Scrimshaw is the technique of whalebone and ivory carving that was started by sailors centuries ago. Inspired by the composer's stay in Utqiagvik, Alaska, this composition musically illustrates scenes from these carvings thatdepict a day of Alaskan fishing. Starting broadly and majestically, the music quickly moves to a lively and energetic section that features syncopation and introduces the concept of canonic entrances. A return to the initial thematic material brings the piece to an excitingconclusion. Although challenging in many ways, this composition fully rewards all performers and listeners with a thrilling musical journey.

SEAL Team: The Mission

Capture the danger and tension of a SEAL team mission with this exciting concert opener. Beginning with a pulsating rhythmic figure representing communication between the members before a slower section of longing to be home with family and friends, and a final driving section of determination and bravery, strong melodic themes are developed throughout. Inspired by spies and superheroes, both serious and humorous, this cinematic depiction of a spy on a mission to defeat a nefarious villain will entertain both students and audiences. Selections from H.M.S Pianofore - Arthur Sullivan

A sparkling medley from one of the best-known of Gilbert and Sullivan's operettas has been deftly prepared by the always skillful Andrew Balent. The medley includes five selections from the original work: We Sail the Ocean Blue, I'm Called Little Buttercup (a trumpet solo), I Am the Monarch of the Sea, When I Was a Lad and He Is an Englishman.

Semper Fidelis

Semper Gratus

Written in honor of the composer's band director, this challenging concert opener or contest selection is designed to develop fundamentals of music, technical aspects of performance and expose students to great band literature. With an expanded percussion section, multiple key changes, and interesting melodic, dynamic and rhythmic developments throughout, this composition will help your students be "always grateful" for your contributions to their music and lives.

Serenata

Suitable for performance after one year of instruction, this Latin-flavored dance is an excellent study in independent playing for young bands. With steady percussion, bass staccato articulations, clarinet and horn ostinatos, and muted trumpets, there are many teaching moments presented. A contrasting middle section lets your band focus on smooth articulations and alternating melodic lines. Program this for a lighter moment in your concert that also helps students learn important musical concepts.

Sesenta

Sesenta was composed to celebrate the 60 years of leadership by Dr. Guy Foreman with the Michigan City Municipal Band. The piece opens with an exciting and energetic theme, with the tempo staying brisk throughout. The dynamic shifts and rhythmic patterns reflect both the celebratory nature of the anniversary and the progression of time. Solos from soprano saxophone, flute, and euphonium add color to the piece, while the final fanfare-like coda provides a majestic conclusion.

Setting Sail

With its title is taken from the text of Walt Whitman's poem "Leaves of Grass," Setting Sail is an epic new piece that is expansive and sophisticated. Its luxuriant, reticent opening moves into beautiful lyrical lines and all-encompassing harmonies before leading into the journey at sea, punctuated with a cool 6/8 groove. To finish, we have a climactic return of the original lyrical material. This is a large-scale work of dramatic proportions.
