6-Note Folk Song Suite

6-Note Folk Song Suite is intended for a young band with at least six weeks training. The suite is comprised of four familiar melodies:Mary Had a Little Lamb, Go Tell Aunt Rhody, Hot Cross Buns, and When the Saints Go Marching In. Every instrument is showcased with an opportunity to play the melody. Using only 6 notes of the B-flat scale, each tune can be performed as an independent melody, without repeats if needed.

6-Note Reindeer

6-Note Reindeer is a festive piece designed for very young bands who have learned their first six notes and are familiar with eighth notes. Based on the well-known Christmas song Up on the Housetop, this arrangement helps introduce eighth-note rhythms in a fun and accessible way. The piece provides opportunities for every instrument to play the melody, except for oboe, tenor saxophone, and horn, due to range limitations at the beginning level. The snare drum part features various eighth-note patterns, adding rhythmic variety. A continuous sleigh bell part is also included, which can be shared by different players if needed. This piece is perfect for a beginner band performance, especially during the winter holidays.

6-Note Santa

This arrangement of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas is perfect for the beginning band winter concert. Based on the first 6 notes of the concert Bb scale, the scoring ensures every instrument gets a chance to play the rhythmically simple melody. The only eighth notes appear in the snare drum part.
