In fact they are, but it just happens to be adapted well for the youngest of students with limited rhythms and notes, as well as carefully crafted aggressive minor sounds, making your band sound marvelous. Napoleon's Last Dance - Randy Navarre

Let's introduce 3/4 time: a waltz. But not just any waltz! This song is a bit mysterious, and gentle with both soft and bold sounding sections. The harmonies are a little different than you may hear at this grade level. Secondary dominants and a few other surprising chords sound out at times. You will impress your audience!

Natya

Broaden the horizons of your students with music inspired from India and used as the basis of this effective new concert band work. Your students get the opportunity to vocalize syllables in an authentic manner for this style of music. Kevin Mixon has gained a following for his skills in writing multicultural band music while keeping the authenticity of the music intact. Your students will truly feel the spirit of Natya, a Sanskrit word meaning "dance" and/or "drama," as the two are inextricably linked in much of Indian tradition.

Neapolitan Adventure

Featuring three Italian melodies, this carefree piece will transport your audience to the Mediterranean. Opening with the happy Tiritomba, continuing with Santa Lucia and ending with Finiculi, Finicula, opportunities abound for working on phrasing, blend, and mixed meters. A great programming choice for a light classical moment in your concert.
