La Valiente

La Valiente is a rousing Spanish piece that combines flamenco, tango, and just plain fun that's sure to be a bright spot on any group's next concert. Written in d minor, it modulates approximately halfway through to a happier sounding F major, but as the piece concludes, students find themselves back in d minor. While there are quite a few accidentals, there are none within the piece by which students playing grade 3 music should be surprised, and they lend a nice authenticity to the sound. 1st trumpet's highest note is G. 1st and 2nd clarinets, only, cross the break.

Lady of Fire

Lady of Fire is a musical representation of the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanism, Pele. The Hawaiian islands are said to be her handiwork. Using only 6 notes, your band will shine as they depict Pele's fiery creation of each island as she attempts to evade her sister, Namakaokaha'i, goddess of the ocean. With powerful articulations and dynamic melodies, this piece is sure to be a hit!

Lake Dances

After a mysterious opening where the main thematic material is stated by a single flute, the piece builds to a dramatic climax and then leads to a fast paced dance theme ending with a folk song theme. It is a perfect showcase piece for festival performance that is both sophisticated and educational.

Lamplight Village

Lamplight Village evokes the peacefulness and coziness of a fantasy-setting village in mid-evening. A stroll down lamp-lit lanes with glimpses into family rooms, taverns, stables, and inns imparts a comfortable, dreamy atmosphere, with the sounds and smells of a small hamlet winding down for the night. This piece provides the opportunity to work with your students on tone, phrasing, and intonation while improving their musicianship overall. Land of Pharaohs

The mystery and romance surrounding Egypt's Nile river, expansive deserts, mighty pyramids, Valley of the Kings, and legacy of art and culture has inspired generations of men and women around the globe. In ancient Egypt, the word "Pharaoh" meant "Great House," referring first to the royal palace itself and later to the ruler in power as an official title of leadership. Land of the Pharaohs is a short, musical depiction of the power that the ancient Pharaohs once held and the drama that has captivated mankind since the end of their long reign.
