Dreidel Dance

Dreidel Dance is a lighthearted theme-and-variations mashup of The Dreidel Song and Hava Nagila, running both tunes through a stylistic funhouse and winding up in a flurry of high-speed energy. This arrangement is not for the faint of heart, but this whirlwind presentation by master arranger Robert Thurston is well worth the effort.

Eagle Command March

Eagle Lake March - Randy Navarre

This song is a great tool for introducing sixteenth notes. The sixteenth notes are group in twos or fours and the notes are repeated. There are no sixteenth note runs. Just tell the students to play four notes in one beat. It is easy, and they are not afraid of all the notes on the page. The harmonies are not typical beginning band. There is a flatted three chord giving the march an extra bit of spice. It is in ABA form and much of the sound of a more advanced march. Only the first clarinets play above the break. The first trumpet's highest note is C. This is the best selling march of Northeastern Music Publications.

Early Light - Carolyn Bremer

Carolyn Bremer's brilliant showpiece for orchestra has already been a hit in this version for concert band by the composer. Based on our national anthem, which gives the piece its title as well as much of its musical content, Early Light is also tribute to baseball, the "national pastime."
