Circles In A Square

This piece was commissioned in memory of an extraordinary English teacher. He spent every day reminding his students that their effort was more important than talent, IQ, or ability. his piece depicts the way this teacher engaged his students. It begins with the welcoming of students at the door and builds into the excitement and intensity of the class itself, finishing with the teacher saying goodbye until tomorrow. A different and bright piece with a positive message from composer Ed Kiefer.

Citadel of Saldin

The piece is a homage to the actual Citadel (also known as the Cairo Citadel). It was built during the medieval Islamic-era fortification of Egypt by Salah ad-Din and developed further by subsequent Egyptian rulers. The Citadel of Saladin was in use during some of the most significant events in Egyptian history, from the time it was constructed to the end of the Muhammad Ali Dynasty, which was in power from the early nineteenth century until the 1952 revolution, when the modern Egyptian republic was born. It is written in C-minor. Only the 1st clarinet crosses the break, and the 1st trumpet's highest note is F. The duration and some of the rhythms bring this work to an easy grade 3.

City Chase

Experience the thrill of the chase through the dark city streets! This cinematic theme begins with intensity and builds to an aggressive pursuit with many rhythmic twists and turns. A short reflective section in the shadows offers a brief reprieve before the exciting chase resumes with even greater energy and drive. This contemporary style composition offers the opportunity to practice alternating staccato and legato style playing. Several individual solo or lightly scored sections let your ensemble focus on listening and balance skills, until all players converge once again. Enjoy the chase of a great musical experience!

Clarinet on the Town - Ralph Hermann

Clarinet on the Town is a modern novelty clarinet solo of medium difficulty. It begins with a bright, romping section, going next to a blues section, and finally returning to the first theme with a real curtain-raising" coda. Its capricious character makes this a good encore number." (Program note)

Clash and Roar

The title says it all with this aggressively scored piece by Larry Clark that a young band can really dig into. Some unusual percussion effects are called for and Clash and Roar employs a modern harmonic structure and rhythmic energy, which will have considerable appeal to young players. This will be a great piece for festival/contest use. Key: C Minor Duration: 3'

Clash of the Warriors

Written using a variety of tempi and shifting moods, Clash of the Warriors is loosely based upon the Bulgarian folk song "Kaval Sviri", which depicts two warriors preparing for and ultimately battling one another.

Clock Tower

Clock Tower contains many essential musical and technical skills for beginning level bands. The ticking of the clock mechanism is imitated by pitched woodblocks and the main theme is based on ascending and descending scale patterns, reinforcing note-reading ability for the beginning student. Filled with melodies and countermelodies, contrasting sections, and use of diverse rhythms throughout all parts, this is a wonderful skill-building selection!

Cloud Dancing

The composer is a glider pilot and this composition expresses his experience and feeling while gliding through the air and clouds. It is a wonderful experience of varying tempos and musical ideas, all very melodical.The ranges are all very much within a Grade 3. The first trumpet's highest note is F.

Clown Town

Clown Town is a grade 1 concert work with a twist! Percussionists are introduced to exciting auxiliary instruments such as siren whistle, police whistle, ratchet, vibraslap, and more. The wind players get in on the fun by playing kazoos and bird whistles, and trombonists are introduced to the infamous gliss. This is an excellent choice for first year band students to enjoy learning about melody with simple harmony and contrasting dynamics/articulations.
