The music for Daedalus' Labyrinth is loosely based on the story first presented by Homer. You'll hear the musical twists, rhythmic turns, and harmonic changes that have made Sean O'Loughlin's music so popular. This is a sophisticated work, but well worth the effort for the advancing band. Dance of the Crows

Composed with Renaissance style dances in mind, the composer imagined attending a dance where everything is beautiful, but the dancers are actually crows! With a melody that is simple and primarily on the beat, the compositions starts calmly but gradually becomes more aggressive. Use this to develop the characteristic low clarinet sound, counting and listening skills, easy dynamic contrasts, and independent percussion playing. A fun opportunity for beginning bands to stretch their wings!

Dancing Clarinets

Dancing Clarinets is a sprightly and lighthearted piece designed to showcase your clarinet section. This clarinet feature will reinforce your clarinetists' early use of the upper register. The second clarinet part is in the lower register, but all students should be encouraged to learn the first upper part. This cheerful and unique piece for young bands will brighten any concert program.

Dancing Skeletons

Imagine walking through the graveyard at night and seeing three skeletons rising from the grave. Watch and listen as the skeletons do a nightly dance as the darkness surrounds them. The C minor theme begins in the low brass and low reeds as percussion - including wood block - represent the rattling bones of the dancing skeletons. Perfect for a spooky Halloween feature!

This Spanish style piece in a lilting 3/4 time will get your developing band off to a great start at your next concert. This new Carol Brittin Chambers piece has flowing melodic lines and lots of interplay between the percussion and winds. Carol also explores different colors and textures in the winds to make the piece a more interesting addition to the repertoire for developing band.

Composed to celebrate the anniversary of women being admitted to the Notre Dame concert band, this Irish-themed composition includes The Bells of St. Mary's, I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen, Girls of Our Town and The Women of Kilkenny. Featuring interesting harmonic and melodic twists, a variety of meters and solo passages for several instruments, this concert and contest selection also works well for folk-song themed concerts.
