Whitewater Run

This driving rhythmic piece is written to depict an exhilarating run down a whitewater river. Composer Ed Kiefer draws on his years of experience as a band director to provide a perfect choice for younger bands with small forces in the lower voices as those sections are mostly scored in unison. A welcome addition to the repertoire for young band festival performances.

William Tell Overture - Gioachino Rossini

One of the great, classic transcriptions of the concert band repertoire, Leidzen's famous arrangement of the most popular and beloved of Rossini's opera overtures has been reissued in a fine modern edition edited by Tommy J. Fry. From the atmospheric opening, through the brilliant storm sequence and following pastorale (with its English horn solo), to the quick march, almost inseparable, for Americans of a certain age, from The Lone Ranger, this is a dazzling survey of what a talented modern band should be able to achieve.

Winter Adventure - Chris Ferguson

Winter Adventure is inspired by the many "made for TV" movies shown during the holiday season. Many of these films are enjoyed while wrapped in warm blankets with hot cocoa in hands. The light energetic motif in this piece captures this cozy winter mood, with chimes reflecting ringing church bells in the distance, sleigh bells portraying horse drawn sleighs in the snow, and even suspended cymbal rolls representing the icy winter winds.

Yukiko Nishimura's lush ballad Winter Milky Way will take students on an interstellar journey. With whimsical lines and jazz-influenced harmonies the piece is both idiomatic and impressive, just right for intermediate bands. Winter Milky Way is sure to delight performers and audiences alike.

Winter On Emerald Bay

Bold music in the Celtic style from composer Alan Lee Silva, Winter on Emerald Bay has a rollicking 12/8 feel with lots of shifting textures and timbres. Emotions go from aggressive fanfare-like figures to flowing woodwind lines, punctuated by unique percussion scoring. This definitely has contest/festival potential.
