Opening with exciting woodwind flourishes and contrasting fanfares, the piece eventually moves into a sensitive passage featuring beautiful chamber writing. Special effects are employed (including tuned wine glassesand singing) in an ethereal presentation of the melody using piano, bells, and vibraphone.
